VS Injector calibration
Hey guys, i've recently upgraded to L67 36lb injectors on my VS ecotec to run E85. I have adjusted all my fueling needs etc.
Ive currently got an NVRAM setup and running the latest version of the VS extended bins.
however, since ive had to drop my injector flow rate (ms/g) the trip computer has been thrown off and giving me very low readings. (4L/100km). it seems to be very happy lol. Whilst looking at the tune, i came across two scalars.
Trip computer - amount of fuel for 1/512 DU and
Trip computer - Litre/Hr INST Fuel Rate Cal
My question is, is there a way of modifying these values in order to get some sort of accuracy with my fuel consumption. Itll help especially that im not running regular unleaded either. Cheers.

Re: VS Injector calibration
yeah that's what you need to change .... the question is though how to work out the calculation for it

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: VS Injector calibration
Wouldn't you adjust those values by the same ratio that you alter AFR's to go from petrol to E85 although you will have to include the difference between the actual Mg/s flow for the L67 injectors and the figure you have actually used.

yeah all starts to get a bit complex
and you may never know if its exactly right or not either!

Re: VS Injector calibration
I dont think fuel type matters on VS as i think it is calc'd from injector pulse width. But reading 4L/100 it sounds like its miles off and not just the injector rate. Can grab the value for "Trip computer - amount of fuel for 1/512 DU" from a VS S/C bin and try that.
The other item "Trip computer - Litre/Hr INST Fuel Rate Cal" is only used for TP logging.

Re: VS Injector calibration
I think I did this to get mine right
I took the values in the scalers and divided it by the stock size injector to find out what 1lb then take the new number say its 123.45 x 36 ( 36 is your new injector size) that equals 4444.2 so thas the new number to put in
As you have gone to E85 that might not quite work im not sure.

Re: VS Injector calibration
as vl400 was getting at, your talking about the relationship between flow for the given millisecond of injector open time. That would only change with viscosity of fuel, and I dont think I would be significant enough between to worry about. So i'd change the scalar as suggested for the % change in injector flow rate.

Re: VS Injector calibration
theoretically the numbers should be higher for E85 .... approx 1.5 times more E85 needed compared to petrol..... but I guess see if the injector size offset of that value puts it anywhere near the right number then re-assess.

Re: VS Injector calibration
So the best way to go about this is to roughly use the stock S/C reading and multiply it by how ever much i increased fueling by ? (roughly 1.45x give or take a bit). I just need it to be in the ball park so i can use then calibrate the cluster at the bowser. The level 3 clusters have an option to calibrate them. So you fill up the tank, drive around, monitor the litres used on the trip computer and compare it to the amount filled at the bowser. Then theres a formula that i have in the manual to give me the new calibration. The reason i cant use that at the moment is because calibration in the cluster only allows for minor tweaks, it wont be enough for the larger injectors plus E85, hence why i need to get it in the ballpark. Some very good points made in this post. will this idea work?

Re: VS Injector calibration
Not as I understand it. When you increase the fueling in the tune for E85 that does increase the injector pulse width. So that is accounted for already. You just need to adjust for larger injectors.
