Anyone have a wiring diagram for VN v8?
Also what would be the best way to go about wiring a car with battery located int he boot, like alternator and sense wire? Obviously fuse the cables at the battery in case of a sort along the way to the front. Wondering if its ok to use the one (large) wire for the alternator and supply for the electric and EFI up front? or better to have 2 separate wires? one to charge and one to supply?

Re: VN V8 wiring diagram
normally for a streeter I have run the alternator wire to the starter motor and it connects to the big wire from the battery there!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Thanks guys. Just doing a little job of doing the electrical for a vn v8 engine in a torana. how critical is not having a VSS?

Stock motor usually get away with it. Just set base idle to idle rpm with butterfly, dont rely on the iac.

or fit the commodore speedo unit into the factory cluster and add variable resistor to get the needle sweep to match the torana speedo overlay
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

I really feel like I have to say something after reading something like this. Next your you will be saying don’t rely on the ECU just fit carburettors.Dylan wrote:Stock motor usually get away with it. Just set base idle to idle rpm with butterfly, dont rely on the iac.
Firstly if you open the butterfly (stop screw) the ECU will detect engine speed has gone up and will immediately command the IAC to close, bringing it back to it’s programmed desired idle speed.
Ok so now your forced to open the butterfly more and more until the IAC is fully closed by the ECU and now you have your desired idle speed. There is a far better way. Get the ECU to control it.
What “PCM Hacking” is all about is learning to control the engine by reprograming it to how you want the engine to run. Changing the desired idle speed in the ECU is one of the easiest things to
achieve. What will you do if you have a more important tuning issue to overcome?
Dylan please do not take this personally, we are all here to learn. Try and give good advice.

Re: VN V8 wiring diagram
I've run no VSS for years on my Gemini, like kojab says, get the idle right and the rest pretty much sorts it self out, its not as nice as with a speedo but its good enough

speedo is already there, its got cable driven setup from a T700. maybe adding a VSS in between the cable and speedo later on will be the best.

None taken, youve probably seen the amount of stupid questions ive asked so best i dont go giving advice.kojab wrote:Dylan wrote: Dylan please do not take this personally, we are all here to learn. Try and give good advice.
I did point out it was most effective on stock motors. Never had it on my own vehichles like that before. If IAC is still hooked up just open the butterfly a bit more so that when slowing down it helps it return to idle.
Like you said my advice was off. But you can quite often get away with it. But im sure youve seen worse set up's than the one described.
