Dyno tuning - locking transmission in gear
Hey Guys,
Last week while I was at the dyno the operator wanted to know if I could lock the transmission in 3rd gear (VT L67).
Now I think I did see a thread about doing this but I can't find it.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Yeah there is a command you can send & need to make sure it has tcc unlocked in the command too, if no one else replies I will try & dig the command up but use at own risk (you also need to either stop connection or send another mode 4 command to unlock the gear/command too).

Re: Dyno tuning - locking transmission in gear
0xF5 0x57 0x04 0x81 0x00
That should be the command to send & have 2's compliment for checksum which should work it out to 2F
Then to clear all it should be
0xF5 0x57 0x04 0x00
with 2's compliment for checksum again & should be B0
Need to make sure it has at least 1 0x00 after the command for some reason otherwise sending commands don't work I believe (not sure why).
EDIT: use at own risk no guarantee & may cause damage

Re: Dyno tuning - locking transmission in gear
Cheers mate.
hopefully somebody else can confirm?
This would be easier than altering the shift tables so it just doesn't kick down a gear whilst it's on the dyno.
This is all new to me.

Can also generate your own mode 4 commands for various things using this spreadsheet and command files .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic. ... ock#p23951

its a constant learning curve this EFI world of ours

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Dyno tuning - locking transmission in gear
if youre allready in the bin tuning you could just set the upshift downshift speeds so it wont shift and set back where you want them when finished
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Re: Dyno tuning - locking transmission in gear
We tried that on monday, changed all the downshift speeds to 15km/h but the car still kicked down on the dyno.

Re: Dyno tuning - locking transmission in gear
Yeah I had the same issue, that's why I just used the send command option!
EDIT: I'm pretty sure when I tried the bin mod from memory I maxed all the down speed so it wouldn't reach them, but also have to disable tcc! But for whatever reason it still downshifted!
