you know what they say, measure 48 time in 35 different ways...... well thats my saying anyway lol

The next one will be exactly the same, but if i need bigger core, a 42mm can fit as long as the current rear side remains in the same position and all of the extra thickness is moved forward. There seems to be enough room to spare going from 32 to 42mm with few mm clearance provided its all towards the front, otherwise the fan shroud will foul if its centric.

one last thing i need to do is work out coolant concentrations using this. Hydrometer. This one is at 60% @ 23ºC, if it floats at the ring just above the float line in the pic, its 50% I just need to be above 55%, aiming for 60%

Then I need to find an analogue multi meter to check for electrolysis. Damn digital one is way to sensitive to external electric fields get any realistic measurement, its all over the shop, My measurements exceed the limits with the meter probes in mid air, if i wave them about, even worse.

Yesterday I got the coolant concentration right, needed to remove about 1L and refill the 1L with 100% concentrate to get my 55-60% target.

Fixed the last thing today, those felt strips on the inner door belts are renown for dropping off into the inside of the door. I fished them out using a wire hook I made to insert into the end of the rubber itself through the access holes at the bottom of the door, twist to latch and pull them out.

All were there but one, I raided the missing one from the berlina in the paddock.

So I fixed them up and refitted them. what a PITA! took all day and bit of yesterday and end of my fingers are bruised. They were so so hard to remove from the doors. I thought I was going to rip the doors off. Broke my prying hook tools lol china crap kincrome, but still fair bit of force.

But finally a commodore with compete inner belts lol.

Well, first drive on the road! yay.

I got a URV permit and get tyres and front end alignment booked in for tomorrow.

So I did some logging and did the first bit of VE table corrections. But missed out on a lot of good data becasue the closed loop for some reason didn't stop when I changed the minimium temp, even though i uploaded the cal.

After saving and changing the VE to the laptop and then uploading to the ECU. I re-downloaded to check it. damn changes did not save. No biggy, open the saved bin from the laptop. also no changes grrr! Something was playing up in TP, explains why my temp values didn't make any difference to closed loop. Anyway after 2nd try of going though the log and redoing all my changes. it saved properly to the pc and also loaded to the ECU too.

So this is my first log, next one will not go into closed loop so I will be able to get more of the VE covered.

Interestingly, I found fair bit of knock on decel in the 20kpa column mid to high rpm. this was in over run with throttle closed, think its just before DFCO kicks in.

I have 2 minor problem with the car. first is there is a nice loud tinny sound at certain rpm coming from under the passenger seat, found that exhaust y pipe might be hitting a shield when the exhaust vibrates enough to start banging it, should be just a matter of bending the shield or exhaust slightly.

2ndly I have an oil leak, minor one. VSS  they all leak, its new but I was betting it was going to anyway so I'll leave it. its where the actual sensor clips into the body of it.
I suppose I could take it apart, wash it out and seal it together with some sikafelx or similar to seal it. they are not sealed by design.

Other than that, its goes pretty good.

One thing thats got me a couple of times is, hitting save icon in the table in TP but not saving the BIN up the top loft in TP.
If closed loop was active maybe look at the BLM see where any correction was.

Is there anyway to copy and add the whole VEcalc data straight into the VE table. I was copying one cell at a time and it was a real PITA when I had to do it again.

As for TP not saving. I went save as, saved as a different name. Opened it and it was all default values.

Not that I am aware of in TunerPro, could setup an excel spreadsheet to do it though.

For excel could copy and paste your current VE table, copy paste the calcVE histogram, and then have excel generate a new VE table with a check of the calcVE data (if non zero use it, or even get more complex by checking if its +- a certain % of the current VE table and decide to use it or not).

Anyway, nice work getting the VR on the road again

only the toe need a slight increase but everything else was well within spec.

I got a RWC right on the spot pretty much, my guy I use was blow away how good it was.

I also got some more tuning today focusing more on the light load areas. Also HQ355 nailed my problem, he thought it was probably fuel and one of his mates in the tuning business suggested fuels to use and advised against shell. guess what I had in my tank lol. Filled with fresh BP ultimate. Knocking all gone except 3 cells in my log in med load high rpm range showed ever so slight knocking, 0 knock anywhere else which is good news.

So loaded an new cal with updated VE for todays log. wow what a difference. really pulls well in low to mid. Very happy what I got so far.

while going though my log, I can see the changes from the first tune in the monitors. Target AFR line follows WB line more or less.

Also broke an exhaust mount, again! genuine one this time, first on this car but broke heaps of new ones on first outing on my VP. So new ones again and put a security wire on the mounts in case they break the exhaust wont fall or flop around.

car booked in to victoads and ready for the road. Should see it on the road Wednesday afternoon.

Took the wheels off and gave them a good clean inside as I haven't cleaned them at all, while was at that I gave the strut to spindle bolts a 90º turn because I left them at 100Nm thinking the wheel alignment guys would undo them anyway but that didn't happen coz I got the camber spot on anyway. I found The caliper paint i used on the disks just vaporized pretty much lol. so next time I'll use exhaust paint  obviously get hotter than 480ºc

Put the ECU back in and all the covers so they don't notice me playing with "emission controls"

Fitted new rear exhaust mounts and got some SS cable and those things you clamp them with. I used those to make security cables around the exhaust mounts to hold it in place in case a mount ever to break again.

Give it a wash, clay bar, compound and wax tomorrow.

btw anyone know how to read errors code via TP?
