Turbo Timing Map
Turbo Timing Map
I'm helping with a V6 turbo conversion in a VP. The engine is stock with T3-T4 turbo(Chinese) & runs on methanol as it's a race car(drags). I used the tune from the supercharged Dato, but he has blown a head so I want to make sure that the timing is on the safe side before he fires it up again. He did find that the cheap 044 pump (copy) wasn't that cheap as the pressure is all over the place, even after fitting a new fuel pressure reg. Can someone supply a bin to look at so I can compare with the 12P bin that I'm using.

Re: Turbo Timing Map
is it standard compression v6 and what boost are you running ? I would expect you should be able to run a stock compression motor on 10-15psi no worries with methanol, as for timing it will wont than stock off boost but then obviously taper off as more boost comes on .....
having said that I wouldn't expect the stock head gaskets will be happy with 10-15psi for too long
as for 044 copies and methanol, don't expect too much from it!

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Turbo Timing Map
It has std compression, aiming at 8lb boost max. I tried to warn him about the pump, so he's fitted a Bosch 044 of mine for the moment.
This is the bin that we're using.

Re: Turbo Timing Map
here is your bin with my spark map in it its never popped a gasket on lots of v6 turbo's on pump gas.enough spark to go 250rwkw on pump gas on 11psi LOL and the same spark i run upto 21psi on 130 octane avgas
i also added some tables for on boost fuel calcs that were blank might need to adjust ve a tad on boost diff it to your old bin to find all the changes

Re: Turbo Timing Map
ide probably get rid of the soft touch pre rev limit will just glow sparkplugs with 11 degrees of retard before the gearshift and have it hot and ready to pop when the next gear hits under full torque

Re: Turbo Timing Map
Thanks, sorry I didn't reply earlier, was away for the weekend. The rev limiter is set about 500 revs above the shift point, but will keep that in mind for the future.
