Have been playing around with dual thermo's (AU Falcon) on hot days and have now made a change to stage them. Initially had one turn on at a lower temp, but the 'high speed' fan never turned on and instead one fan just took longer to cool things compared to having both on. So now have them set to the same on temp but delayed the high speed by 2 seconds, dont get the hit of 40A as they both start up. They also turn off at different times due to the different hysteresis settings.
With the IAC steps have also used the V6 settings, 2 for the initial transient and 3 for while they are on. To setup it up set the additional steps to 0, log it and look then when they kick in to see what the IAC step difference is between on and off after closed loop fixes the idle RPM. This becomes the additional steps so the learnt IAC steps stay accurate with fans off and on. Transient prob a couple steps just to keep the RPM stable, more trial and error for that. The V6 numbers worked ok on my setup.

Re: CF Bedford Van
yeah i've been wondering if the 2 speed fans is not so much of a benefit with twin thermos, but the staged setup is certainly a good idea to keep in mind, might be a better way to keep the usage of each fan evenish!

Re: CF Bedford Van
got some steel on the weekend and nutted out new seat bases to match to the commodore seats.... the driver side is roughly done, other than I plan to put tin plate along the front and sides of it, which should stiffen it right up!
the steel cross bars in this pic are just to keep it in the right spot for welding .... and the bolts you can see in it are the originals, and I have added another 4 per seat to make it more than required and that should keep the engineer happy!
hopefully have them both finished off in the next week or so and can tick another thing off the list then
also hoping to order a dominator converter for it in the coming weeks/month .... after that I might need to work on the brakes so I can move it around hehe!

I think that should hold, and with some sides you get a nice under seat storage area too!
Galv sheet on the floor? It looked like fun to weld with the spatter.

It really is a kinda intimate setting for the driver/engine

Your lucky the van has to meet 2nd edition ADR's and not third. The RTA request testing on seat mounts for 3rd edition vehicles but nothing has been said about 2nd edition.

Re: CF Bedford Van
yeah the gal plate is a bit of a pain, once you get some heat into it though it burns off the gal ok, the reason I used it is that I was given 3 6 mtr lengths of it for free from a mate
I am also planning on the passenger side seat to mount the PCM under it, that's part of the reason I thought of the steel plates, also the way the wiring loom is in the Bedford, normally goes through the firewall in a commodore in my case will go through the floor into that area under the seat! then just need to extend the 5 or 6 wires where the engine loom connects to the body loom under the dash and its done!
your not wrong immortality its not going to be quite as roomy as my commodore ute was hehe
and yeah im sure there's a lot more required for newer vehicles to pass!

When you weld the gal just grind off the gal on the bit your about to weld and it won't splatter as much and you'll get a nicer weld

Re: CF Bedford Van
so I got the new timing gear set the other day and ripped the timing cover off, pissed off the gear drive timing set and replaced it with the normal ones, put it all back together and now instead of a whine half the street can hear its quiet as, can actually hear the injectors ticking away now!! lol
