Old school demos and beyond

Post by antus »

So, I saw this article the other day:
http://games.slashdot.org/story/15/01/2 ... old-record

And "red sector incorporated" rang a bell.

Today It hit me - Tristar and Red Sector Incorporated = TRSI.

A bit of searching and this sort of stuff comes up... a blast from the past!

Search just "TRSI" on youtube for more.

So obviously the RSI part is still going, and indeed hes doing some pretty cool stuff today. This oscilloscope demo got me. I first saw the rigol link, but I think the old school CRO works better:

Ok so it continues.. not only are TRSI still out there, and still doing cool things but... they actually wrote a commodore 64 demo... built a satellite... put said satellite in to space (not entirely their own work, that part, but it happened)... then connected a c64 to the satellite over a radio link built from a DVB-T card, received the demo from space.. and executed it on a C64 at a demoparty, live. C64 demo loaded from space. Legit. mind=blown

there's lots of fun stuff that happened back in the day, the amphour radio show has a few interviews with the commodore and amiga guys, lots of stories if your interested in the electronics side of it all.
