GPS trackers ?

Post by HQ355 »

Hi guys I'm thinking of fitting a gps tracker to my HQ as we all know there easy to steal. Has anyone have any experience with the $50 eBay ones or is it better to get a dearer one, I don't want to pay for daily monitoring etc etc it's more of a last in line of defense incase the unthinkable happens, cheers

Cant imagine there would be any issue with the $50 ones. It only needs to be accessible somehow online. Even if it pings its location once every few hours, better than having nothing!

Although any aftermarket kits that come from china, always come with absolutely useless instructions! So be prepared for some guess and check!

As these things require a SIM to operate and transmit positions, does anyone know how much it cost per month for a suitable "PLAN" from a mobile service provider?

Thanks.

I'd go with an ALDI one for a couple of reasons:
1. Uses the Telstra network so good coverage
2. Can get a $15 pay as you go that lasts for 12 months, which if your not using it much should work ok.

Will depend on whether gps tracker is regularly sending info or whether you call it when you want to know where it is.
