another update :) picked up my shiny new converter today :)
2200-converter.jpg
so its a 2200rpm stall with Kevlar lockup clutch and all the usual upgrades :) hopefully should be right on for getting the big girl off the line nicely with a trailer on the back and still cruise with lockup to keep the revs down!

so I successfully got the pushrod out of the booster without damaging anything! and so then I proceeded to turn it down (using drill press and grinder ;)) and then I shortened it up and cut a thread onto it to suit the rose joint! :)

need to get the booster into its proper mounting location then should be just about all sorted! :)

neighbour has a lathe and offered his assistance, but he wasn't available when I wanted to do it and so I improvised :)

so here we have the finished product, muchly shortened to normal :)
P1120530.JPG
these next two show the issue I have with the bonnet closing, I want to lower the mount another probably 10mm, so this should give me the room I need and line the pushrod up in the right spot with the pedal pin, but unfortunately means i'll need to use the tapered reservoir ... no biggie, just the VT one looks nicer :)
P1120531.JPG
yes this cut out in the bonnet is factory to clear the original master cylinder! :)
P1120532.JPG
so pushrod needs to be slightly shortened to get the pedal lower but other than that should be just about happy days!
also you can see the original holes below the VT ones ... that's how much difference there is in the mounting locations!

Hope you made sure the reaction disc at the end of the push rod didn't fall out when you pulled it out. You find out if it did the first time you go to stop. It's amazing with a little searching when you do these jobs what fits. Some parts are direct bolt on and others need such a little mod it is almost as if the manufacturer made for that car eg like the bonnet cutout.

ahh yeah that must be the bit inside the base of the ... ummm .... the part of the pushrod that goes in from the other side and has like a cup on the end of it, and that goes over the plastic bit inside the booster!

its the part that pushes on the master cylinder piston! so yes good its present and accounted for :) it actually stayed in place, I assume from the copious amounts of grease they assemble them with!

Yea it's a rubber disc about 20 odd mm diameter that fits inside the booster at the end off the push rod. It's role is to allow a smooth application of the booster proportional with pedal effort. Sometimes but not often when you pull out the push rod it remains stuck to the end and falls off inside the booster. Without the disc in place you brakes slam on fully with almost no pedal effort.
