12P is a custom operating system for a '808 style of ECU .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=356
If you still have the auto PCM then you cannot use 12P, 11P is what you could use in place of it .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3798

The FAQ has some general info .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

As to where to begin, look at the 12P custom bins http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=375 (knowing nothing about what 'cam work' has been done there might be something bin that would be close enough to get things running).
See what has changed and then do something similar to an 11P bin, or even a standard VS V8 auto bin if its just a mild cam swap.

VS V8 auto uses a 424 ecu funning $11 code. Can use $11P in its place.
Manual used $12 9n a 082 ecu. Can run a 808 also and $12P can be used on both ecu.

You can't convert it to 808, if your using the vs electronic auto it needs to be $11p but don't think there's any custom tuned cammed v8 tunes for it.

I commented on your post in the custom tune thread.
If its a SFT profile i have a tune in the 12P custom tune thread that would be worth a look.

As its converted to a manual you can replace the 424 with an 808. Get the wiring diagrams for both, get the 808 loom end plugs, carefully document what goes where on the new plugs and swap the pins across 1 by 1. Make sure its right as you go as it'll be a pain in the butt later figuring out where you have gone wrong.

Also ive changed the thread description to something that makes sense for what your asking. It helps to keep the information here organised.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

It would be welll worth converting to an 808.
I think eficonnections.com have the ecu plugs as well as the pins for the wires.
