Shift Light Issues

Post by Vpgts076 »

Hi Guys,

Hope some can help with my issue.

I brought a cheap eBay shift light to utilise the circuit to place into a commodore cluster....

The issue is that it will not read the signal that I am creating on my signal generator.

I have tried a V8 and V6 signal and gauge works but shift light doesn't.

Shift light does illuminate if set to under 1K even when green signal wire is disconnect.

V8 Signal = K1 & K2 looped
6 Cylinder = K1 Loop cut
4 Cylinder = K1 & K2 Loop cut.

Please Note at back of circuit orange and brown wire is to indicate loop that it contained from factory. NOT UTILSED.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Daniel

I cant speak for that circuit, but you could run a shift light from the '808, or more than one via the flex outputs.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Yeah I agree but I am supplying change over clusters with shift lights as per below... PLUG and PLAY. :)

I have done some homework and as the circuit sits it doesn't work IE signal into A.

but if you plug the signal into B or C it works but led is delayed.

and ideas what the 10K, 820 & 3.9K resistors do?

if you can get better pictures showing the pcb underneath and the top with numbers on stuff someone with electronics skills might be able to assist you more.

That picture doesnt seem to be working, but I think it looks like a voltage divider to bring the volts down, and as the size of the resistors is so large it looks like its meant to be driven from a coil rather than a logic level signal from a coil pack. But im sure someone else can describe it better or may see it differently.

LMAO...... You are the man.. set my signal generator to 50/60 model for coil signal and worked but there is a massive lag between rpm and led.

Both videos shift light is set at 3K

Slow ramp up.

real life test.

ANY IDEAS? or just a cheap circuit?

Thanks

antus is right, looks like a voltage divider (on the green wire) to suit 12V signals or higher.

Not sure about scale/size, but think the resistors look like 1/4W and 1W types.

Beware, you risk blowing things up feeding signals to B and/or C, the input is definitely A (green wire).

Finally, speed of response will be a function of the PIC firmware.

Joe.
