Telematics in VX,VY ?

Post by vlad01 »

I found a couple of holden techline books for technicians and came across a section detailing some sort of system they cal telematics that basically is like big brother built into the cars that sends data back to holden via satelite link as well as GSM phone network. Has GPS, microphone, engine disable via SMS, position tracking blah blah.

Anyone heard of this and any models ever fitted with it? It goes on like its standard in all VX, VY, WB etc..

I am not sure if its wise to post pics of the pages or not as it seem to be insider info and the book is printed for a specific person as it has their name on each page.

Anyway there is other sections on there that detail the canbus protocals, break down of some messages as examples, wiring, termination blah blah so that might be handy for someone like Tazzi

I got 3 decent sized books dates 2003 covering shit loads of subjects, service fixes, wiring, mechanical, bulletins, mods, software and all kinds.

I figure some of you guys could borrow them as I dont deal with any models of that era therefore its not that much use to me.

Was available on a number of models, and may have been standard on some Caprice/Statesman models.
System is basically the same as the US Onstar system.
You had to pay a yearly subscription to keep it active.

Never really had a large uptake so didn't flow down through the model range and become more available.
