I run an ethanol fuel stabilizer, car sits for weeks on end with no moisture or corrosion problems. I simply start the car and let it come up to temp every week or so, and no issues. To get the same or more horsepower from e85, you won't need to run your tune so close to the knifes edge, therefore a variance of 10% ethanol won't effect things so much. I run mine a little on the rich side to safeguard against ethanol content variance. 10% ethanol won't effect the RON too much, but can change the optimum afr by enough to cause a fueling problem. For a race car, I don't car eif I burn a little extra fuel than I need to.Charlescrown wrote: I know the advantages (and disadvantages) of E85. I don't want to have my car sitting there for a month or 2 with E85 sucking up all that moisture. I would love to be running it but as mentioned the variance if ratio especially with seasons and other problems I cant go that way.

Another option would be to mix up your own United 100 RON. Since their 100 was just 98 mixed with 10% ethanol, and the E85 107 RON is ~15% 98 octane petrol. Could do the math and work it back to mix their 98 with their E85 and end up with what you had before.
Sorry, you are probably sick of hear E85, but the thought came to me in the shower and I couldn't get it out of my head.

I don't think it's that easy to mix Ethanol with Petrol unless you go through a special process. I did do some testing of Ethanol content some years ago when we got the batches of dicky fuel and we added water in small measured quantities, blended it till it could not absorb anymore water. This indicated the level of Ethanol added so I think at this stage I will add another 10% Toluene just to get the Octane up close to 100.

What about water injection?...
Thats a fuel additive

nope.... it is that easy.... insert ethanol, insert petrol, mix. no different to mixing up a drink or 2 stroke petrol... there is no special process to combine them.
