just check the bolts. they are same thread and length wise. for some weird reason the VP bolt heads are 5/8 , thats huge compared to the 5/16 thread. the head does shoulder down to ecotec bolt head size so flange area is the same.

So comp cam bolts it is!

Now for my next question , where can I buy replacement rocker arms? being 400k on the clock there is a small ridge worn in from the oil groove on the pedestal so it catches at lift more than it was worn to.

the pedestals are perfect, no wear at all. Valve stem contact patch is great too, barely worn in lol.

There might of been a change in vp ( maybe s2 not sure ) when they changed the thread size cause my parents vp had the small ones and that was a jan 93. The one I had was the first off them and that had large.

Anyway are you going to put the vr roller pedestals in or stick with the ones you have.

dont have VR ones. just trying to find any rockers to suit pre ecotec thats not high ratio which = $$$$ for virtually no gain.

I can't find much in the way of springs and retainers either for pre eco.

Crow Cams has a range locally, or Summit. The springs & retainers are similar dimensions to the ones used in the Holden 6, SBC.

Looked at their catalog. Only have high performance ecotec and standard pre ecotec. Do they sell more than they list?

im thinking in regards to the rockers that I might try and get VR ones with bearings, that way I can install new bearing and will be like new as the rocker arms dont wear other than valve tip and pushrod ball, which dont wear much at all.

we run chev double springs at 130lb seat pressure just a case of hitting the cataloges and finding the diamter and correct install length. my own heads for the drag car runs 150lb manley behives from zzp with different retainers

Take your original bolts down to your local engineering shop and get a new set of cap screws the same size/length. Cheaper and just as good as any ARP rocker bolt.

MACE is stocking a reasonable selection of ARP bolts/studs to suit 3800 V6/ecotec engines, not sure how they compare in pricing to US suppliers though.

ZZP in the US is also a good source.

What seat pressure would I need for 0.46 lift and 2.8-2.9 ramp rate?

I like the idea of running bee hive springs. can Ecotec springs and retainers be used? or I need to use different ones?

Crow make modified retainers to suit LS1 Beehive type springs, i think ecotec/buick use the same modified retainer but not 100% sure.

I believe 3800 V6 and ecotec use a different size valve stem so you would need the correct retainer/locks to suit.

How does your ramp rate compare to off the shelf performance cams like the Comp Cams type cams? If it's a faster ramp rate than you would want more seat pressure.
