I believe 3800 V6 and ecotec use a different size valve stem so you would need the correct retainer/locks to suit.

How does your ramp rate compare to off the shelf performance cams like the Comp Cams type cams? If it's a faster ramp rate than you would want more seat pressure.

its a far bit more than any crow cam, their stage 3 is smaller than comps stage 1, about comparable to many higher speced comp cams but really they are all small whats available off the shelf

stock is 2.27, mine is 2.89? on the intake and around 2.5 on the exhaust.

just checked the calculations 3.06 on intake 2.66 on exhaust. up there with some of the more aggressive cams out there for Australian v6 market.

overall the cam is small, not much duration or lift but ramp rate and timing events makes this one fully optimized for v6 mild engine.

tested the VR today without the bell mouth.

It certainly did go better! So here is the BIN and log. VE was out a little but not a huge amount.

Interestingly I have now knock counts in all of the high load areas despite having pretty high values in the ignore table. Not sure if its real or not, AFR were more than safe in those areas.

could be too much timing for the increased cylinder filling? or perhaps just noise from working harder?

Will need to chuck it on the dyno and knock box it to see how things have changed.

The most notable thing I have noticed is the massive lean spike on even slightest throttle. So I did something cleaver. I opened up APNX tune and took a look at the AE multipliers. Way different! much bigger on VN s1 so I copy and paste those and will give it another run tomorrow and might pull some timing to see if that effect the knock counts. if it doesn't, I guess Ill turn the damn thing off

Also the VE table had become more linear and bit smoother without the bell mouth

On my first 0-100 pull I messed up as it went to almost red line spinning on the spot instantly petty much. logged 5800rpm few time, oh and that reminds me I should mention that falling over at 4700 rpm has gone and it winds out to 5500 easy without much loss of acceleration.

0-100 are into the 7s if i manage to get a launch without excessive wheel spin.

Some lean cylinders maybe? Overall AFR might not have changed but cyl to cyl balance likely has.

yeah its pretty good so far. I added more AE and its pretty close now.

Have VE learn on atm and the VE table is looking pretty good, not much different than before but it has less of these harmonic waves in it. Looks smoother than with the bell mouth.

I reckon I need to look at my ignition table on the dyno again as I feel than it doesn't require as much timing to obtain max torque now.

I just had a quick look over the latest bin there, some big changes in the spark advance. How'd that go? Anybig performance increase's? Fuel economy?
Must be similar to that Greenfoam tune is it?

yeah, its his table I used as a base table and dyno'd it from there. yeah was bit improvements. Goes like stink.

The bin I compared it to I thought was from after the dyno. Named "Tune1Migrated"
It's great to see a V6 getting so much attention and some potential mod's.

An update on the VP build. started pulling down a spare 400k engine that came out of another vacationer out of all things.

I kept it as it ran very quite, no rattles at all and pulled very well and was 99% untouched.

So here are the first look ins of the insides.

the lip is non existent on 5 out of 6 bores, the only one I can just barely feel it with my nail. Some water staining though from leaking intake gaskets

interestingly you can see the factory dont torque plate hone. Can actually see the high spots caused by cylinder distortion from the head bolts.

Definitely getting it torque plate honed then

the water jackets are unbelievably good, no pitting whatsoever.
