SV5000 Help

Post by Grim304 »

ok I got the upgrade for a realtime tuner but the board is totally different and can't install the USB board?
Compared to the instructions this doesn't have any resisters and has some extra chips things are re-arranged

That's a vr Ecu it already has hi speed Comms on it you just need to fit the pins to Ecu plugs and use an aldl adaptor

Ecu pin a9 to diagnostic plug pin 6
Ecu pin a8 to diagnostic plug pin 9

Where do these plug from to?
Ecu pin a9 to diagnostic plug pin 6
Ecu pin a8 to diagnostic plug pin 9

Damit look like this original HSV SV5000 may not be all that original then?

You can still wire the USB comms inside a VR/VS manual ECU, not sure what Antus supplies in terms of wiring diagrams though so may need to check with him. It was in the original instructions so may still be in the supplied PDF.

I took the non-standard configurations out to simplify the docs. I'll send over details of that connection. Personally I'd keep that pcm for a car which has ALDL or sell it as a VR manual PCM and source an '808 if you can find one cheap. Sometimes they go for $20 or $25. If you wish to use what you have the connection details are in your pm inbox.

Yea that's what though bit of a shame to butcher a perfect 305 seeing as it's already got the needed gear on it just need to add an nvram

The memcal code ATFL4424 is the correct one for the SV5000.
Your ECU has a remanufactured sticker, and there seems to be plenty of VN/VPs with "remanufactured" '082 and '305 ECUs in them.
Maybe it was replaced under warranty, and they'd stopped carrying '808s as spare parts once the production of the newer ECUs had started?

If you really want an original '808 I'll gladly swap you one for your '305 :D

Thanks Antus, He had to go home as he lives 400kms away so we will plan another friday saturday tune for him :)
The sv5000 made 200hp at the wheels, what should they normally make as that sounds fairly healthy?

Also it appears that on very cold mornings it won't fire up until he has warmed the unit... Yea we get the occasional cool morning this way ;)
I thought it may be a dry joint possibly .

I would just wiring in a VR onward under dash type ALDL plug to the loom and and use the ALDL adapter cable.

Im going to be doing this for all my cars from now on after setting the VR like that, mostly because it was already wired like that.

Like vlad01 stick with the VR ECU they are much better in quality (can of worms emerging) from my experience and all you have to do is wire in a OBD2 socket from any car or China and use the ALDL unit. Easy peasy. I believe you can also just plug in the Nvram for live tuning but that's one area I have not worked with.
