Hey guys, just bought a S3 VS 5L, I have found that it has a TRX100 chip off ebay, would like to replace it with something a bit more reputable.
I would love some advice on which way to head.
Kindest regards,
Rhys.

I'm doing one for a mate at the minute plenty room for improvements over stock by the look.
Do you have any means to burn one yourself? Have an ALDL cable to read the current one at least?

No I dont, have a looked at that route previously for a vt, but never bothered.
My main concern is not being able to get any reliable info on this trx chip, havent heard it ping yet, but not knowing the quality of the tune I am a bit concerned, not many threads speak highly of them.
So can this chip be flashed? I would only need to get the software and cable etc to reflash it?

Nah it will need uv erasing and burnt with new tune. Any VS to VT memcal will be compatible.
Best bet is to get another memcal have another tune burnt and swap when yku have it.
Most people burning chips have a few spares in stock.

Sure could. Get a NVRAM, a usb interface and wide band then off you go.

Not cheap to get set up. But tune a few mate's car's afterwards and can get a bit back.
Have a look at the stock tunes in tuner pro. Im new to MAF tuning. Holden set a rich top end 11:1 and pretty shy on the spark advance. Ive got a chip here for mates VS3 V8 ute. Haven't ran it yet though.
I put in a good spark table target 12.5 afr top end. Assuming the factory injector multiplier table is fairly accurate it should be good.

Its definitely a good option, never had the opportunity to learn this side of the trade, always to busy making stuff fit to worry about tuning, thats what tuners are for hahaha

While the enhanced bins here have extra functionality to allow the whole bin to be read via ALDL, you can only read half a stock bin via ALDL because the EPROM on a VS is larger than 64KB. The same limitation is possible/likely with this 3rd party bin.Dylan wrote:I'm doing one for a mate at the minute plenty room for improvements over stock by the look.
