nice work, you put a lot of effort into covering up!

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

yeah I found out the hard way when shit comes loose after having paint on the mating surfaces. Bolts especially hate it, wouldn't want loose heads would we?

I normally assemble motors then paint them, but yeah I agree with you, same with earth locations, want a nice clean surface!

Did you brush on the rust bullet or spray?

Re: Vlad's rides thread
I brushed both on. the RB was easy to brush on, the enamel wasn't so easy even though its meant to be brush or roller only.
My brush was average quality, would be easier with fine quality brush and if I heated the enamel up to around 30ºC it will flow easy as.
The cold here makes everything a pain in the ass lol

Yeah, the rust bullet goes on surprisingly well with a brush, despite how thick it is. Clean up is abitch though.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
it sprays on awesome despite coming out of the gun like thick drizzle.
I love how it stick to everything including stainless and most plastics with no prep. I found that out from the over spray on stuff.
makes a sick engine enamel for alloy parts as its like shit to a blanket on alloy. Great if you want that new alloy look. Its something like 80% aluminum powder by weight.
By far the best paint I have ever used.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
Got my pivots.
Good thing i decided to buy new ones than buying 2nds and rebuilding them. the bearing are peened on, so it would of been a royal PITA!
They are like the late VP pivots which are much taller than the earlier ones and also use the 5/16" thread not the 3/8" early engines uses.
The rocker arms look virtually identical but last night I found the difference the holden part numbers seem to suggest. The internal cavity of the rocker arm is smaller on the early ones by about 1mm. So the late pivots, non bearing and bearing type do not physically fit into the earlier arms.
Will post pics of both arms and the 3 types of pivots.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
left is late VP/VR style mounting plate vs early VP and VN pair plates.
in this pic.
lower row from left to right 1. VN/VP, 2. Late VP, 3. VR.
Top row of rockers. left VN/VP, right is late VP and VR.
pivot fits the late VP rockers as they are the same part number as VR.
doing a bit of a clean up on the arms. I glued some 2000 grit paper to one of the old pivots to polish down the very small but sharp ridge on the wear face inside the rockers.
Left is unpolished, right one after treatment.
Just lightly faced the stem contact point, more too see how much wear. Bugger all! even after 400k. those that were faced only took a few rubs back and forth with 800 grit paper on a piece of glass. So the wear only went as far as the oxide coating really.
should be awesome I reckon

Re: Vlad's rides thread
over night in a bucket of 1:10 molasses to water mix. Secret to get that fast action was adding an aquarium heater set at 32 ish C. otherwise at 5C it will take about 2-3 weeks. So I have given it another 4 days to get all the heavy rust patches off and turned it over to the other end last night. Had to add another 2L of water as it evaporated real quick with the air being so cold. It actually steams all the time coz its so cold here.
The beauty was the old paint just lifted off overnight!
