MAP Sensor Values

Post by yoda69 »

I did bit of a search on map sensors and found some interesting info that maybe worth sharing.

This came from http://www.robietherobot.com/storm/mapsensor.htm
Based on my calculations the following equations maybe of some help:
1 Bar kpa = 19*Volts + 10
2 Bar kpa = 39.8*Volts + 8.8
3 Bar kpa = 62.3*Volts + 3.6

Using this as a guide:
1 Bar at 105kpa is 5.00 Volts
2 Bar at 105kpa is 2.42 Volts (not 2.5 as might be expected)
3 Bar at 105kpa is 1.63 Volts

Not sure if the above info is right, but it may explain some of the problems people have had changing from a 1 Bar sensor to a 2 Bar sensor.

Nice table and info there yoda69  The info I have from various GM code bases is pretty much the same and have used these in 12P ...

1Bar
MAP(kPa) = (0.369 x N) + 10.354

2Bar
MAP(kPa) = (0.781 x N) + 8

3Bar
MAP(kPa) = (1.22 x N) + 2.2

Where N = (Volts/5.1) * 255

VL400,
Thanks for the update.
Hopefully this info is useful for some people to at least ensure sensors are working as expected.
It's also handy with old $5D logging to ensure that the conversion from Volts to MAP is correct, which is where all this started for me.

Logging on 160baud is so slow.
Feel like it'd be quicker with a multimeter, pen and paper.

Tell me about it, I was playing with a stock VN on the weekend and thought there was someting wrong with the laptop whilst waiting for the data! :comp:
