808, 424 or 531 ecu for V6 race car?
Re: 808, 424 or 531 ecu for V6 race car?
oh yeah, no one seems to have mentioned why NOT to go 424, it has high speed comms and better resolution maps doesn't it?

for 424... it only recently gained 11P and so has only recently become a contender. maps are the same resolution as an 808 with 12P, the main difference is it can run the electronic auto trans and it can do a spark cut rev limiter if you use 11P code.
the rest of the pros/cons are same as 808.
as far as I understand it, its got to do with the MAF being some distance away from the actual cylinders where the air is being gulpled, so there is a small delay before the readings come in. in a map based system, there is no delay, it reads the plenum pressure instantly.
whether or not that is the real reason, I dont know... but I do know from experience response is way better on a MAP based system!

What is the purpose of the cam angle sensor on 424 v's 808 not having one?

yeah I certainly found when I had the 808 on the ecotec is was more responsive than the MAF system.
cam angle allows the banked injector firing, or in the case of the VS PCM full sequential injection.

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Id go the 808 no questions. How do you find the MSD coils?
Re: 808, 424 or 531 ecu for V6 race car?
spray paint a stock coil red... itll work better

Re: 808, 424 or 531 ecu for V6 race car?
Yeah, read lots of bad about these, they where put on this engine in about 2007 and haven't given any problemsDylan wrote:Id go the 808 no questions. How do you find the MSD coils?

Re: 808, 424 or 531 ecu for V6 race car?
Right... Im going to build a new loom and go with a 424. Spark cut rev limit and high speed comms are the winning reasons why. Being able to tune with aldl sounds a lot better seeing as the ecu lives in a water proof box, opening it up to play with tune or even to collect data at the track would be a PITA, obd can live in the weather no problem (the current one in the car works fine after many years service) also my experience dictates that 424's are a better ecu than 808's for reliability.
I have built tefzel looms for customer cars before, lets see if I can't loose a few kilos out of the wiring, only hold up may be getting ecu pins as tefzel must be crimped, not soldered. Anybody got ideas on where to get fresh pins from?

these are for the DFI plug, TPS, MAT, CAS and IAC.
metri pack 150.2 connectors.
https://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnec ... ItemId=514
The ECU end uses micro pack 100.
https://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnec ... ItemId=298
temp sender delphi 56.
https://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnec ... ItemId=795
Injector plugs, Delphi ones, better construction than the genuine bosch.
https://www.eficonnection.com/eficonnec ... ItemId=448
knock sensor connector if you want, but Im guessing not.

Also ask these guys for the fiberglass fireproof 1/4" tubing. Its mint on the sensor leads!
