Yella terra have a flywheel for the tilton clutch that weighs 6.8Kg. Also, do you use all gears? You could gut the gearbox to remove unnecessary gears, selectors etc and replace the spinning bits with sleeve spacers or turned down gears. Countershaft can have the unused gears machined off too. Only small change but what about replacing the steering column with tubular steel?

I searched high and low and couldn't find a flywheel to suit an ecotec on the yella terra website...

As for the gearbox, not a bad idea, i don't recon the other gears in that box have EVER been engaged since the box went in!

Might be my mistake. I think I searched for a V8. You could possibly adapt it or copy the design.

Removing the gears will also drop rotational inertia.

If your going to have the box out if you haven't already vlad found a alloy clutch fork the standard ones usually have the weight on it

Also one of the guys I used to work with in his speed way car he had a fly wheel machined into basically a flat disc the bolted it to an auto flex plate he dropped a fair bit of weight that way.
