xdf is uploaded mate.TCC lock and unlock speed is the last 2 TCC settings in the top window of tunerpro

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
Thanks delcowizzid, amazing what a difference the correct xdf makes. I was having a lot of trouble trying to understand the VE and spark patterns that resulted from the 808 xdf I was using with the ATFY $5D bin. Where did I go wrong with the xdf selection. Lots of parameters that vn would never use. Speeds for lockup are now more like what I get in normal road use. Your comment "timing does cost you a lot" I assume means that a load increase resulting in map moving from 30 to 40 causes a significant jump in igntion advance 10 deg or more. What would be the reason for the lump in ignition timing centred around 40kpa. Am I reading the F1 SAMAIN table correctly.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
yeah it helps with the correct xdf LOL.with the timing more load needs less timing of coarse but its the effect on torque that is important ive upped the spark a little in the 40+ map areas and it can make the car run even higher in the kpa range with just a matter of 2-4 degrees holden obviously spent a lot of time on the spark curve to get torque pretty right all comes down to what a particular engine likes though depending on mods to intake and exhaust etc.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
Just to help me understand the xdf/bin structure, why was the xdf 1227808 wrong for ATFY $5D bin. Also am I correct in using the "$5D XDF" xdf for all other vn bin eg ASBY & ARBP. ARBP sv3800 bin appears to fit and has TCC lockup at 92kph and unlock at 88kph which matches mine vehicle better than the ATFY values, however ASBY sv3800 update bin has TCC lockup at 4 & 10, obviously wrong which suggests that the "$5D XDF" xdf dos not match this bin . How do I know what xdf goes with which bin.
Note big difference in timing in mid range rpm between ATFY & ARBP, ARBP much less, must suit other sv3800 mods. Would this tune really suit an unmodified engine and improve performance. Will be fitting extractors prior to supercharger but would not think such a small change would require a new tune.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
Some of the stock bins had a value added or deleted without an official program id number update. sometimes you might find something like $5d_a and $5d_b xdfs around that are similar but offset at a certain point. Ive got a 4 cylinder in my car so cant comment on $5d directly, but I know this does happen, and sounds like whats going on.

atfy = $5d
asby = $a5
arbp = $5d
so that would explain the issues with the asby bin showing the wrong info ....
goto http://memcals.com/rcc_info_memcals.html that will be able to tell you info on all bin specs!
stick to $5d bins and you should be able to read them with the $5d xdf you have ....
by the way i don't think the sv3800 was really that different a motor i think its mainly just a different tune. ...
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
They say a little knowledge is dangerous, more questions. Appears to be many parameter options in $5D XDF program that were ahead of the vn, auto trans monitoring/control functions when vn is hydro etc.
Also, ARBP bin has "TCC road speed coast level" set to 90 kph, "TCC road speed lower limit for unlock" set 88 kph & "TCC road speed upper limit for lock" set 92 kph. ATFY bin has "TCC road speed coast level" set to 90 kph, "TCC road speed lower limit for unlock" set 81 kph & "TCC road speed upper limit for lock" set 85 kph. ARBP bin makes more sense to my untrained eye than ATFY values, however real question is, should not both use the same logic pattern, not different. ARBP has lock higher than unlock and coast in the middle, yet ATFY has coast higher than lock. Maybe coast does not do much. Is there anywhere that provides a derivation of each parameter.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
yeah i often see some funny things in the bins like that ... i guess some of them are part of the reason why they release fixes to the bins in newer cars ..... i would say the difference in the sv3800 bin would be to do with different torque curve or a more 'performance' engine so maybe keep it unlocked a bit more for performance sake ....

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
most people dont bother much with TCC settings only really the lockup speed and TPS lock unlock percentages.the sv3800 has a lot of economy settings in it like the O2 sensor swing voltage and TCC locking later to make up for the extra fuel it uses when you give it too it.has nice power but still retains economy from a mix of all the changes it works well in S1 VN with the stock log manifolds and rear muffler removed (we have no cats here either) and a pod filter.immortality who's just joined runs it and gets good g-tech times running it and good economy to.with a bit of a tweak to the WOT spark and some more VE and a special A/F ratio table change at 100kpa it goes even better.

Re: VN Commodore ECU update
some of us need to tweak the TCC settings cause we run a holden straight 6 with vn injection and a t700
