Insurance companies good driver reward BLACK BOX

Post by Charlescrown »

Don't ya love it. Insurance companies wanting to be nice again by allowing you to plug into your OBD port the magic black box that can tell them everything about your car. GPS, speed, TPS, steering angle etc etc etc. They don't want to be able to see what speed you drive at. BULLSHIT. They will now be able to compile a massive data bank on everything you do with your car. WHY? Just to be nice and lower your premiums. This is only the beginning with many European manufacturers building it into their cars. Big Brother will be watching. OBD3 has finally arrived.

Nah a new market for OBD2 interfaces. I have a Mitsu EVO and I know in the states the fellas have written a nice piece of software to spit out a pass for all the emission test codes no matter what the outputs really are. It wont take long. Maybe someone like Tazzi is already working on it.

I bet the Victorian government will be the 1st to implement it, they'll use the gps and speed sensor to get you going through stop signs as well, auto fine for moving without your seatbelt plugged in etc etc nothing but money grabbing c....nts down here

This is exactly my point. There is almost no limit to the data they can and will collect and what it may be used for. OBD3 plans exactly that fines in the post for emission breaches but where is the limit?

rig up dummy ECU that powers on with ignition and does nothing :P then real ECU is isolated from the monitoring device....
