How well the are balanced plays a big roll, also rigidity of the block and rods. Tune is the other obvious thing, detonation break stuff especially under boost where detonation is like a grenade going off in the cylinder.
Has your crank been cleaned up and shot peened?

why against it? Ron i think it is? at sicsix says its a must pretty much with high power builds using stock crank.
All good performance springs, rods, retainers, ring and pinions etc are shot peened.

yeah billet crank is the the right thing to do for your build, but if money doesn't permit.

Re: my ride vt ecotec
Yeah i would have loved a billet crank but unfortunately they are way to far out of my budget just trying to do the best i can with this thing and give it the best chance possible to make decent power and stay together its gonna see a lot of boost so the rpm isnt a huge factor but i wanna sqeeze the most out of this thing naturally lol

As mentioned earlier, mal wood and Npc both offer many configurations of clutch and V6 to T56 conversion flywheel.vt3.8lt wrote:Ok cool that helps however im more than likely going to beed a multiple plate cluch to keep this thing contained so a factory spec flywheel might not be suitable unless you know if the t56 flywheels use same bolt pattern as a ecotec ?
My race car is aiming for around 450rwkw and Npc guaranteed the organic puk single will be fine. That's a 1000kg car though
What turbo you running?

Oh ok is that an ecotec and are you running stock crank also its a 70mm Chinese thing has been fine so far but will more than likely need to be upgraded later

Yeah ecotec base with forgies and h beams like your build. I'd not really consider anything other than the stock crank at this stage even though I've heard of a new billet item coming out which I'll buy to try but not due to lack of faith in a well prepped stock crank.vt3.8lt wrote:Oh ok is that an ecotec and are you running stock crank also its a 70mm Chinese thing has been fine so far but will more than likely need to be upgraded later
A single plate will be ample for your car imo and less reciprocating mass in the drive line is always a plus
So your turbo being around similar flow to a GT40 (at a huge guess) without knowing much about it and not knowing the rear either so you now have a set up that can go 450rwkw on between 23-30 psi depending on how the turbo and noodles handle it all lol.
Piece of cake for the clutch I have and I've fitted it to a few combos similar with great feel and no noise and zero let up in clamping force in either daily driving or track work. I prefer NPC as they're much cheaper than Mal Wood and it's a lighter fly wheel and they handle the pressure plate details and clutch friction style personally to suit your needs. Cannot speak more highly of those guys
