New to ECU Modifacations

Ok where abouts do I locate or get hold of a Wideband O2 sensor and how do the hook into the existing system as from what I have read the are a 4 or 5 wire sensor and the stock VN is only a single wire sensor? Also once I have it tuned to what I want do I need to keep on the vehicle or can I then go back to the original O2 sensor?

ok the wideband unit i have is the LC-1 from innovate motorsport (http://innovatemotorsports.com/) and the exact unit can be found here:

there are others out there and im sure people will post what they have as they read this. (please note innovate is USA dollars)

so with mine, I installed a second bung in the exhaust to screw the sensor into, then wire in power etc for the unit as per its instructions, other than that you just need to configure one of the analog outputs on it to work with 0-5v output and then wire that into the ecm plug.

then provided the analog output is calibrated to suit the 0-5v settings it will just work and in your logs you will have a wideband sensor reading as per below picture, the bottom right hand gauge:



once your happy with the tune you can remove the wideband and put the bung back in the exhaust and off you go.

Ok I am starting to put a list together of what parts I will need for the tuning

NVRAM ECM Conversion
808 Coms Board
Wideband O2 sensor
EPROM Programer/reader
Memcal Adaptor
Eprom Eraser

Let me know if there is anything else that I will need?

well you don't really need the eprom eraser unless you want to put tunes onto stock memcals .... but other than that your pretty much on the money.

I was thinking about once I get the engine tuned up to what I want I will remove the NVRAM and just reprogram the original chip and put it back in and I have seen the erasers for about $20 So it's not much extra

just remember, all VN/VP memcals are 16k... $12p is 32k, so youll have to source a bigger eprom for those memcals to use that code on them.

Dose anyone know where I can get the memcal adaptors from to plug the memcal directly into the burner without removing the eprom chip?

I just made mine you can get a circut board and pins from jaycar for a few dollars

If you can't be bothered making them you can order them from Moates, there quality is much better than my dodgy soldering.
