Had a mate who tried one on his VP, same thing it just refused to calibrate so couldn't get any further than that. Gave up on it and returned it, got one of the slightly more expensive Yellow Box units (not Yellr). It worked straight off and is easier to adjust, has much wider adjustment range and finer adjustment.

I fitted one of these in a mates car. Works a treat. User on here "Festy" makes his own if you're interested.
That dakota one was about $150 off an ebay shop.

ok its got me stuffed, if i join the speed signal wires it can identfy the signal from the ecu but as soon as i split it it looses sync,

yeah the jaycar unit needs a pullup resistor... I put one on a VS, and it wouldnt work until I put a pullup resistor on the ECU > Speed corrector wire to 12V. I think I used 10K, but even then its pretty notchy and doesnt read till like 30km/h, I think a different value resistor would work better. maybe 1K, or experiment with a few.
the speedo has a pullup resistor to 12V built in, which is why it works until you disconnect it.

^ Ah, so that's the trick. edit: no wait, that doesn't apply since we had the speedo connected, nevermind
I didn't think it was quite that much, the new style Jaycar one was about NZ$45 I think(?) and the Yellow Box I believe was more like NZ$100, but it may have gone up nowben044 wrote:i think i know the one u r talking about its about $200

seeing as my ute is a manual would it cause problems if i put it in before the ecu
