VT V8 VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor)

Post by feistl »

Hello all,

Can anyone shed some light on what type of vehicle speed sensor is used in the VT V8 (5L)?

I am trying to work out a suitable sensor to fit into a toyota landcruiser transfer case that will send an appropriate signal to the VT ECU.

Also, does anyone know what range of pulses per km/h the factory ECU can accept (I know its adjustable, so want to know the minimum and maximum PPRs it can handle).

Cheers, Errol.

Factory VT ran a reluctor type. Not sure on the PPR.

Thanks mate, thats a great start.

Just trying to find the PPK value is, and how much adjustment the ECU has? Just tricky cause obviously the gearbox revolutions per km/h is going to be very different on a 4WD with 35" wheels compared to the commodore with much smaller wheels.

Cheers

ECU probably has lot's of adjustment if you have it defined in the XDF.
Could always get a cheap pulse correction box.

Don't forget land cruisers run something like 4:11's so with the taller tyres it works out more like a commodore than you think. If you get one of fest y's speedo signal converter and adjuster it will make anything work and there not expensive

A few of the Toyota conversions I have been involved with like 3000 pules/klm
