Thanks Dylan found that thread. It would be nice to keep the MSD especially down the track when I run the turbo, probably not so much of an issue now but I have read that some people have had problems with this. Obviously you sorted out any problems you msd gave had. Cheers

This is a photo of the test 245 setup. Hooked up an exhaust to keep things a bit quieter, a fuel container for a fuel tank and have a fire extinguisher close by. Got it running yesterday, started out running like a dog and spitting and missing anytime I gave it some throttle and the carb caught on fire once or twice and then I remembered that I had only guessed the positive and negative coming from the dizzy, swapped these over and away she went, fixed all the problems. Now to move on to the injection.

well that's a good start
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Sure is, Got it purring like a kitten today, set the timing right, fitted a rebuilt carb I had lying around, plugged some vacuum leaks and it idled perfectly. Got a real solid starting point now. Cheers

How much idle timing dod you give it? What MAP does it idle at? Is it a driver?

yeah I found when we converted my brothers motor to spark only it was so much smoother idling and seemed to start better too (methanol carby)

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
hi mate. i did a 245 a few years ago. i ended up using the v6 throttle body on a vn-vr elbow. it adapted very simply to the 4 barrel flange with an adaptor plate. i used 5mm plate (naturally aspirated) 10mm might be better with a turbo setup. no welding necessary. just used a drill, holesaws, jigsaw and a die grinder.
i used 2 studs tapped into the plate and one countersunk allen bolt from underneath. this might compromise the gasket sealing slightly. there's a thread on here somewhere.
another thing which was suggested to me (and fat265 did) was to use the 7 tooth crank trigger dfi setup. apparently the timing wanders with the distributor due to not having a cam thrust plate. some v6 jackaroos had the right module (d1928) and the coils are just the v6 ones.

Thanks Briney, great info there. i was looking for an suitable elbow and will grab one of the vn-Vr ones. Yeah I've seen the timing wandering and will definitely look at a crank trigger setup in the future, cheers.
