Hi all, will the ECM pick up the right coolant temperature from my Hemi 6 temp sender or should I use a Camira sender, cheers

Im not sure on the specs of that sender. If you could post them it would help.
But if the camira or commodore one fits id go with that.

Thanks Dylan, so either the Camira or Commodore would be ok? it would be easy enough to make up a fitting to run the sender off the heater outlet from the head. Cheers,

That's the go at least you know you can trust the readings.
Not saying the val one won't work. Just check the data first.

Just in case you are not aware, you cannot piggyback the dash temp gauge off the sender for the ECU. So if you do know the Chrysler sender's resistance vs temperature would still need one for the ECU and one for the dash. Also the factory Delco (Bosch) ECU sender is a two wire sender (signal and ground wire) to reduce electrical noise. Most dash senders are one wire, grounded through the block/chassis.

Thanks mate, so definitely will be using two senders. Original Val one for the dash gauge and Delco one for the ECU and will need an additional earth. Cheers

no the earth is part of the ecm loom, the coolant sensor in the vn loom is already right to go, you just need to mount the right sensor and plug in!

like you said if you have a heater fitting in the thermostat housing or similar that will be perfect, I did similar with my 202.

normally the EFI sensor on the VK motor was in the side of head between two exhaust ports, and it was showing almost 20 degrees more temp than my thermostat housing, so I moved to this location in the thermostat housing to cure that issue!

Be sure to fit the sensor in an area where it always has a good flow of hot coolant. I did a conversion on my Pajero and fitted the temp gauge sensor near the heater tap and it shows very cold unless you have the heater turned on.

yeah I agree, that's why I chose the spot I did, directly below the thermostat, shows exactly whats happening and its the last point before it exits the motor so shows max temp.
