I thought 2 o'clock was the optimum position?

That's what I meant by same angle, both at 2 o'clock, thanks. They are a foot or so from the exhaust manifold

if you got a spartain wb you can run both narrow and wide band from the one sensor. I did this on my cars and it worked awesome.

Thanks Vlad, I found your post about this on Google. It's probably a bit above my knowledge level at the moment to set that up but I will try and work it out.

On that post holden202 said that he doesn't run a narrow band sensor on his race car. I am not running mine on the street, is the narrowband required for the ECM to work properly.

Most wideband controllers seem to have a narrowband emulator so you can run both from the single sensor while tuning.

Its my understanding that this output isn't necessarily as good as a dedicated narrowband sensor though, so if you plan to leave the wideband there full time its probably best to double up.

You don't _need_ the narrowband, but you won't get closed loop fuel trim so if you ditch it altogether you'll want to make sure the tune is spot on.

put it this way, if you tune the VE table to be spot on at every load point then it should be pretty much getting the same fuel at that point as if it was in closed loop, all the narrowband sensor does is checks the exhaust reading and then adjusts fuelling to get it to the target reading, and this is where your blms and int readings come into play.

at least for initial tuning it really doesn't matter if its there or not because you don't want it in closed loop anyways, but once you have the tune reasonably well setup you can put it in if you wanted to and then use its blm/int readings to see if there are areas that could use a tweak.

like I said before though, its not hard to put a second bung in and in the case of my race car I actually use it when im on the dyno to put the dyno wideband into it as his exhaust probe never used to fit into my exhaust properly...

if you do decide to run without the narrowband just disable the error codes etc in the tune and you'll be in business .... and regardless of what you decide now, leave the wiring in there for it cause you might want it later :P

Just another question, if that's ok. How do you disable the error codes for omitted sensors

In the flag section of the xdf. There's 2 for each code. One to process the code or not. Another to display error light or not.
