zactly. sleeping on it i found root cause this morning.
there is a connection between both the ECU loom and the dash loom which provides the CEL and things such as immobiliser (and power to A6, ironically) which was not plugged in
i think i qualify for a the pcmhacking darwin award. me and vlad had a good laugh about it this arvo.
big thanks to all the good people on here with helpful suggestions, you're awesome.

yeah. had a good laugh.
i did get a security module from vlad today from the vacationer (thanks buddy)
plugged that in, connected that other plug and i have a working immobiliser and a car that starts first hit of the key. and is bloody noisy straight out of the head. fark.
must do video after tea. will connect the headers tomorrow and install that goodness. ah pacemakers. so much win.

so heres the deal. straight outta the heads baby. maxwin. didn't realise what a pita the drivers side header is to do on the VN when putting the pacies in. had to remove the coil pack on the passenger side to get that side in so i could swing it down, and that goes in easy as.
