heff, you need to start with cranking advance or advance with ecu disconnected (with camira module). just unplugging the big plug on the camira module should be enough, from memory those are the ecu wires only. or just crank it and dont let it start will acheive the same thing as during cranking the ecu does not control timing.
get that right first and lock it at 10 deg and do not move your dizzy from there. then connect ecu and check timing again in diag mode. if its moved from 10 degrees then your reference angle is wrong.
the reason I say this is because if you start in diagnostic mode and just turn the dizzy to suit, then your cranking advance could end up way out, not to mention alignment of dizzy rotor to cap posts could be out as well.

Here's a copy of the current bin file. If someone could spare some time to check for problems it would be appreciated. I haven't changed much. Cheers

Did all the above, thanks. Reference angle must be wrong as got it timed to 10 deg with ECU unplugged (as above, big plug removed from module), put ECU into diagnostic mode and it wouldn't start and spAt smoke from the carby so timing way out.
I will go back one step now as above was my last effort. Earlier I set the dizzy to 10 degrees in diagnostic mode, took it out of diagnostic mode and the timing jumped back to same retarded position, turned the timing to 10 degrees and started missing dropped back to zero and idled perfectly. Not quite as expected but it was working. Hopefully the bin file will provide an insight. Cheers

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Setting the distributor up is a pain. When we did the 300zx with parts of a couple of different nissan distributors and a manifold from another car and vl400's ignition module we had all kinds of trouble getting the reference angle right and the alignment right so that the rotor was aligned with the pins well enough to deliver spark right through the advance range and for it to crank under module control. In our case we were not sure what the ref angle should be, and we had a programmable angle in the custom ignition module (which you dont have) and one in the ecu and the distributor hit on the custom manifold limiting the options for positioning. It should be simpler in your case but I feel your pain! What you describe sounds quite familiar.

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
I had the same issue with the 350sbc I injected set a base tune up with ref angle at 10 as that's the base timing its running with a camira ignition module started it and coughed and farted constantly put it in diag mode and it idled fine for shits and giggles I tried the standard 304 ref angle and it ran fine then to see if it was giving a correct spark angle I filled the main spark table with 10 degrees and checked it and it was spot on don't know why but it's still running it idles and revs perfectly

try reversing the polarity of the reluctor sensor (switch the wires around coming from dizzy to the module) if it is firing on the wrong edge of the wave you will get real freaky stuff going on.

bin file is certainly modified correctly.
