if I am correct Ant already has a 28 spline LSD in it and had commodore axles cut down to suit, I dare say that is the issue, and personally I've never had a "re-splined" axle that's worth anything but a door stopper!

The commodore series borg warner centre doesn't go close to fitting in a Gemini housing (correct me if Im wrong) so Im assuming that the axles are being resplined to Gemini specs...

Agree that the resplined axles are not much chop..

Stock torque tube is handling the power fine, they just need good rubbers to keep them located as they should be. The axles are commodore axels for the commodore brake conversion shortened and resplined to suit the stock gemini RTS spine. So re-heat treatment of those axels and the lesser spline, combined with the stress of grippy tyres and slow seed manouvering is probably what broke it in the first place. Interesting that the splines didnt shread, just a pretty clean break. Am considering an upgrade, but want to keep it simple and cheap. Replacing the axle and doing it again is looking like a cheap an easy option. If I get 2 years out of the axle thats probably good value.
As a cheap option could you go back to gemini axles and get blank commodore rotors, have them drilled 4 stud. Only thing that you would need on top of that is a spacer for the wheel aligner. I did this on my gemini. It's not making the power yours is, but at least you could get away from resplined axles.

This is the LSD kit i have in the other gemini. Its not cheap, but probably would solve all the problems. http://altra9.com.au/web/wp-content/upl ... D-2015.jpg But being that the engine in this car is an SR20 from nissan the only class the car is eligible for is super sedan at the moment. Having said that Im happy at this stage just driving fast on track days. I do love the gemi but buying an s13 with a blown engine and swapping this engine in is probably the cheaper and more sensible longer term plan. This car could gain one of my isuzu G200W engines which would open some more classes with matching chassis and engine brand (holden/isuzu and isuzu) and be sold like that. Perhaps with less boost on the other engine (or even N/A) and replaces axels. Tough decisions. Would be interested to know what you guys would do in this position.

Thats a good idea, I'll add that to my list of considerations. I forgot that by converting back to 4 stud I could keep the brakes but use gemini axels.

Up in QLD there are lots of events adding classes for this type of race car. So, depending on what type of events you want to run, and whether they are going the same way at Victorian events, you could keep down the road you are going. My considerations would be-

1. Is the body good?
2. Has a lot of work already gone into the body?

If I had ticks in the above 2 boxes, I would consider engineering it to take the power and leave the SR where it is.

One thing the gemini's have going for them is that are feather light, and with an SR20DET, you can make as much power as the big boys. Could be a cheap, very competitive time attack car. G200W would not make as much ultimate power as the SR20DET would it?

1. no
2. no

The body is ok, but its really a bunch of good mechanicals with a body wrapped around it. It does have a full cage and is cams logged booked, though.

A mate was suggesting that it could be a good rally car as it is with the cage and on dirt. Ive seen G200Ws with the same power as this one at the same boost, they are a really good engine. The turbo g200w I have sitting in my shed probably probably would be set up to run about 12psi which might give the diff a chance as is. I probably cant have 2 track cars, but set up like that it would be a car someone would be interested in driving.

why? :D

I'd keep the Gemini, here in Vic they are scarce and getting harder to find by the minute. I think you are under estimating how much work has been done to this car... fix the diff problem and im sure it will give you heaps of thrills for years to come. Sure S13's are a little more modern and cheap (around here anyway), but as my customer always tells me, 'gee its great spanking the guys that have spent heaps on their big V8's with this' (V6 powered Gemini).

Buying another car for this is buying a lot of work to get to where you are...

Another option, is to ditch the SR20DET and build a nice turbo G161. In CAMS improved production rules, if you run the original block, heads and gearbox, you don't come under the minimum weight rule, so can effectively run as light as you want. only drawback, is if the engine wasn't factory turbo, then you will have to run a 45mm?? restrictor in the intake, also you will be hit with the 1.6 capacity rule.

yeah I agree there is a lot gone into that car to make it what it is .... and unfortunately the diff is the most hard to fix part of a Gemini.

having said that, with that ultra 9 kit you'd have a very muchly weapon track car ready to race without having to compromise any other car ....

personally I'd be looking to improve a car in the class your in rather than slowing it down to go into other classes, but I also understand that you probably can do more racing if it fits into more classes....

I am also of the same opinion as Biggvl's mate and I love surprising people with my Gemini :) as I know yours also does!

for the record im surprised you got as long as you did from those axles hehehe!
