Re: VK T5 L67
If I'm not mistaken the low speed fan normally comes on when in diagnostic mode as it is activated via the BCM if I'm not mistaken, when the cable is connected and tunerpro is connected it disables the chatter (between the PCM and BCM) resulting in the BCM switching on the low speed fan. The high speed fan is switched directly from the PCM and should have come on.

Re: VK T5 L67
vt onwards comes on once bcm is kicked of line due to the "bcm fail safe" but vs low speed will not work while logging.
Saying that as said the high speed fan should work as normal still.

The tester... 6 clear '5 seed ' cider bottles arranged to fit the v6 injector rail. (Not ideal since the injectors are angled, but it'll do)
Surplus internal fuel pump inside the pvc pipe supplies diesel through a z200 filter into the rail exiting through a normal fpr and back to the pipe.
The injector driver is an old Jaycar PWM kit controlled via a variable frequency generator. Overkill, but also surplus available electronic parts.
A relay activates the fused pump. Everything fed from a normal car battery.
..
So, it can push 45 odd psi to the injectors. I can manually change the pulse rate and duration time of the injectors. Goal was to be able to compare the flow rate.
I figure if they can fill the bottles to about 150ml, within a visible tolerance... in about 2-3mins run time.. then we're good to go. The 'fuel tank' holds roughly 2 litres.
Diesel is my fuel of choice, less volatile. No boom boom if spark.. a rig like this, anything could happen. But its safe enough.
..
Also you can see a tiny ultrasonic cleaner filled with cheapo injector cleaner (basically kero), I can disable the pump and just run the injectors while giving them a buzz in the bath.
Um, I'll take some more photos and attach them.
Cheers.

Okay, try this. My first ever youtube video. The Injector Tester.

that's one 6 pack of beer I wouldn't want to drink

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: VK T5 L67
i wondered why they were black. i had a strut bar identical on my VN years ago.
love it. great vid
i love the variable speed idea to pulse the injectors. thats good.
i wouldnt mind doing something similar to what you have done there as i have a 'spare' fuel pump now, albeit a bit dead it still goes. kinda.

Probably something to be said about testing the equipment before filming!
That was the first try. First the pump fuse was rusty, then the camera memory filled up. Then the SLAB battery was almost flat.
Finally a quick run with the serviced L67 injectors on a bigger battery- before the camera also decided to go flat!
But, The cider likely tastes worse than diesel. But the missus took one for the team and drank them for me.
It looks like a rock got under the main engine belt recently, there is an actual hole- And heaps of tiny marks on my idler and a/c pulleys!
The previous owner of the engine paid a visit yesterday- during finding the damaged belt.... He is still incredulous that this is a daily driver.
Thankfully he appreciates that the high standard of maintenance keeps it arguably safer than many vehicles.
Cheers!

Re: VK T5 L67
So, chasing the mystery of the rich bank on the fuel trims.
This morning I performed a compression test. 170psi all around, give or take 5.
Swapped the injectors from the side to side.
Even swapped the plugs to a different set. Gapped and cleaned to 1.3mm.
Its rather scary to watch the RH STFT go over -20% after an ecm reset. You can watch it learn and update LTFT.
Something has to be wrong, but I'm out of ideas.
Except maybe,
Exhaust manifold leak contaminating the sensor?
Rocker arm or lifter not opening a valve fully....
Might just leave the laptop unplugged and forget I even noticed. But that is poor workmanship.
