Re: 265 Hemi to efi
now that is way strange.... as dylan said, I would like to see a log of engine running in diagnostic mode, then keep it running and pull the diagnostic wire bridge to drop it back to normal mode. then a few pulls of throttle and then send the log.

Sorry guys it was the polarity, all running and idling at 10 degrees correctly now. When I swapped dizzy wires last time I must have still had the dizzy retarded. Thanks for everyone's help, well anyway certainly know a lot more about spark reference angles than I did before. Cheers

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
Oh man, opened that dashboard with the motor running. I am loving this. Just for an excercise Plugged the MAP into a port on the manifold and the idle advance shot up to 20 degrees, found the idle spark As a function of MAP table and dropped the advance down to 10, not sure if it is right but it worked. I assume a carby setup has different vacuum than injection. This is awesome, can't wait to get into other stuff. At least you know you can always revert to a previous BIN file if there's a problem.
Just on another note, it misses on idle at 10 degrees. Chrysler recommend tdc and that's what my CL charger is set at. Is there any problem going through this process again but set up everything at 0 degrees. Thanks.

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
no leave it as is, id even say revert that idle advance back to where it was too... 20 degrees is where engines like to idle at!! carby engines just tend to have very low advance at idle as they are physically limited by the dizzy springs and weights etc...
even 20 degrees is on the low side for an idling engine. best thing to do is go up and down with the timing till the engine is happiest (sounds cleanest and idle revs highest). ignore the chrysler recommendation, it no longer applies to you.

Best idle timing is usualy highest vacume at idle, plug map sensor back in and then adjust, you'll feel it's much smoother and happier

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
normally that would be the case, but as heff doesnt have an IAC yet, and is still carbied, the IAC wont close as the engine idles better, and so vacuum wont really increase as you would expect. what will happen is it will idle higher and he will have to grab a screwdriver and adjust the idle screw, then it will have more vacuum..

Re: 265 Hemi to efi
I am having lots of trouble with the advance at idle. If I try anything near 20 degrees it stops and wont restart. Must be another problem affecting this. Maybe I should just keep going with the hardware for now.
