Ok so engine specs are
Holden V8 with harrop stroker crank
And standard bore
Flat top pistons and zero deck height and 10:1 comp
Clive cams hyd roller
Inlet lift is 521" exhaust lift is 521"
Advertised timing
Exhaust opens 70 deg, closes 30 deg, duration 280 deg
Inlet opens 34 deg, closes 66deg, duration 280 deg
.050" timing
Exhaust duration 224 deg
Inlet duration 224 deg
110 deg center
Heads are standard with very mild port and inlet has had port work to the bits you can get to and a 70mm throtle body
Injectors are brown top group a ones ( not blue tops )
When tune is finalized ( some very minor mods left ) il happily post it up and Hopefuly someone else can use it or get them very close to a good tune. Made 209kw on dyno, not bad for a bunch of bananas

That's not bad going. Similar to a combo I was tuning till it ran out of fuel pump and was leaning out badly around peak torque. Was making similar power around the 200rwkw, slightly smaller cam but has early Come 590 alloy heads and a banana manifold.

With those heads it really needs a better manifold and more cam but the owner wanted to maintain the stock look :(

Thanks to all to who attended yesterday, im certain that everyone learned plenty, there was a lot of information sharing and topic discussion. Having hands on demonstrations helps, its great to see before and after results in real time :thumbup:

For those following this from abroad, this is how the day went -

Meet and greet at about 9am, vlad slept in as per usual :lol: we used one of my on site service VN wagons as a test mule. We had been running a basic hsv tune in it, we tested that against a stock VP file (back to back tests) only to find that the stock file made more power over a larger area, clearly knock was an issue.
Then we loaded 12p onto our PCM hacking nvram, fitted that to our 808 with comms ecu along with a wide band and had a play, we demonstrated steady state logging, then used that info to create a fuel table. As time was becoming a factor, we added a VN series one spark map, re ran it and found great overall improvement. Im looking forward to seeing fuel savings from the VR lean cruise :D

At this point hq355 and i got stuck into swapping his car onto the dyno while vlad and the others went through the process of burning the file to a memcal. We stopped for lunch at about this time, yoda then joined us for the afternoon.

I dont think i need to talk too much about what happened to the hq, thats already been covered in previous posts. I was impressed to see the levels of power we did out of the car straight off. With vlads help the fuel and ignition tables where tickled after extended steady state logging. In my opinion the car behaved and sounded like a different beast. A great result all round. HQ355, you should be very proud of what you have got there :thumbup:

The day finished at about 5:30pm

All done and told i believe the day was a great sucess, if there is something else that needs covering or there is interest in holding another dyno day, or even arranging regular get togethers, please post your thoughts.

i would be up for regular get togethers. any experience or knowledge i can learn from people smarter than i is always welcome.

Thanks for that biggvl, very happy with the way the whole lot has turned out considering everything on the car (including paint & panel ) was done by me in a single car garage ! The motor sounds great and goes even better, was using some 1/4 mile calculators just before and it should do anywhere from a 12.5 - 12.8 1/4 and 0-100 in 4.5, don't know how accurate those things are though ? I'd love to get it out on a circuit track one day and have some fun !

looks like a great day and alot done, well done all! Pitty im not a bit closer. Good to see a video and few pics posted.

HQ355, the old cream tops could be upgraded to Gen3/LS1 injectors if you want a little more room their 26LB and EV6 Style with 4 hole spray but with the EV1 square connector, i have a box of about 60 odd if you want a flow matched set, should be able to pick some nice clean ones out to.

Biggbl, happy to help in the injector dept for test n tune days.

Well I was there and I finally got to put some faces to some names.

The day was an absolute hoot and after spending many years reading and learning all about EFI from the knowledgeable folks on this forum it was fantastic to see all the theory I have learnt being put into practice. Biggvl, Vlad01 & Yoda led the charge answering as many questions as we could throw at them and I walked away, as I'm sure others did as well, having a far more complete picture of the tuning process. I've been patiently gathering the parts needed to build my dream engine, but after last Saturday, plans have changed. I'm going to just slap what I have together on the current engine in my car and forgo the turbo & E85 till later. Honestly, I can't wait to get stuck into it.

Biggvl, a BIG THANK-YOU for putting this together and should you ever decide to do another I look forward to attending.

Good stuff mate, get it going and enjoy it over summer ! If you need a hand with anything just ask ! What inlet etc are you going to use ?
