Post by wagond »

righto,so ive got the double valve springs into my 304 powered vn wagon after doing 1500 odd kms in it,the tune ive started with is the VR288 final tune from Dylan, runs bloody nice especially after some tweaking by him.after putting the springs in there have been a few changes, more mid range and more of a crackle at idle lol!

heres the engine.

vn 5.0 .040 over block
acl flat tops
zero deck
10.5:1 compression
harrop dual plane
edelbrock 4 barrel throttle body
ls1 injectors
arp mains, big ends and head bolts, all resized and line honed
kelford solid cam,242 @ .050 lift,0.331 cam lift I think its 108 LSA but not written on the cam card.
comp cool face solid lifters
comp 987 springs
lunati pushrods
howards 1.72 ratio roller rockers
cometic mls head gaskets
oil system mods and modified h/v oil pump
custom sump
genie headers twin 2 1/2 into 3" exhaust
some head work, not much though, std valves, some carefull port matching and a bit of deburr more than major grinding to the ports,3 angle valve grind.
bug catcher out the bonnet and driving through a manual with a light steel flywheel

Yeah crap weather this morning, it hosed down here. I'd left the BBQ uncovered last night, it's a bit of a mess this morning :(

That should go all right indeed, that's a similar engine combo to what the older NZ V8's had except they had a carby and slightly smaller cam and make some decent power. they weren't allowed to touch the heads at all, net even de-bur the suckers.

Where did you score that?

I'm still of 2 minds for my Senator, stick with the banana's or put something like that on it. I have a spare bonnet to cut a hole in if required :D

I'm thinking of going hydro-roller cam though.
