hahaha yeah, not really open, but he was just there getting engines finished on the quiet! its handy knowing people :)

speaking of, went there today for a few hours, got the rods all washed up and fitted arp bolts, also got the cam gear pressed onto the new cam..... we measured the rods, they need to be closed and honed, also still got to do the piston machining, jobs for the new year!

i have managed to find http://www.magnumperformance.com.au/ who do heavy duty flex plates for 202's! so got one of them on order, apparently thicker and stronger steel, so hopefully no more elongated holes!

lol, well if i've got too much for it to handle then i've obviously got enough to spare to turn a heavier one! plus i have an 8 inch converter so its smaller than a stocker, i dare say its going to pan out evenly in the end!

add to that the bigger duration cam about to go in and more compression, its all going towards more HP so i'll take the hit on the flex plate!

waiting to hear back from my mate as to when i can get to his workshop next, need to machine about .030 off the tops of pistons, close and hone the rods, fit rods to pistons, and then releive the block for the valves, and fit cam bearings, install new valves and service head as needed .... i think thats about it then i can take it all home and start assembly..... still waiting for a few parts but hopefully should have all i need except pushrods by the end of jan! (drags mid march)

Nice, I love building a new motor, especially when it's going to go harder than the last one ! Better fill up your keg, there'll be some celebrating and it's also nice to have a beer or 2 putting a motor together

Got a little more done today, rods have been closed and honed, just needed to let them cool down for final measure and touch up if required .... my first time doing the rods, they get very hot very quickly when honing! its amazing how much it changes the size readings!!

got the crank out of the acid tank, washed it all up and it measured up well, only needed a light linish to get it nice and shiny again, so its now home!

hopefully Tuesday i'll be able to get the pistons machined and the block out of the acid and finish honed then its just about ready to assemble bottom end, only waiting on some bearings but hopefully end of this week might be in a position to start on it!

good progress today!!! got the pistons all machined and washed, rods have had final hone and measure and they are washed, the last bearings and such have been ordered, so hopefully see them at the middle or end of the week, so all going well I might be able to do some bottom end assembly next weekend!! :)

I ended up taking .040 off the tops of the pistons which should put them .025 down the bore and give me about 10.34:1 compression, which is on the safe side of the 10.5 I was aiming for, will know final measurements once the bottom end is finally assembled.
