so i've finally decided on a way forward with the crewman diff....

i'm using a long crewman axle and a long VN axle which means i'll have almost the perfect length that i need, so to do this i am getting a collar made up that will press into the end of the crewman diff tube, it will then have the right size bore for VN axle bearing and seal, and the right offset to keep the brakes in the right spot....

i also needed to fit the right axle retaining plate to the VN axle, so i cut the old bearing off, but then i found that the crewman plate had a bigger hole and was almost too big for the vn seal, so i cut the centre out of an old retaining plate and this fit perfectly into the hole in the crewman plate, i then welded around the hole bit then ground it flat, its now perfect :)

so hopefully in a few days i'll get the axle tube back and i'll take a pic of that and can dummy the brakes up to make sure its all mint before i weld it back onto the diff housing.

will be good to finally get the diff finished!

Custom without being custom! Done well to be able to keep factory length axles in there.

yeah thats the main thing, want to have the bits that are likely to break or wear out be easily replacable!

all i'll need to do is fab another retaining plate and get another long axle then i'll have a spare on the shelf, not that i expect to ever break it!

Once you have a spare on the shelf you will never break it! Seems to be the way my shed operates anyway...

Good to see progress on the Mr Wippy van...

Have finally made some good progress on the diff! Got a sleeve machined up and pressed into the diff tube, which changes it from crewman to vn-vs bearing and seal size

So now that the axle and bearing stuff is all sorted out i could then work out the final length and weld the tube back onto the diff.

I'll give the weld a quick grind flat, remove the other side crewman mount then its just about ready to dummy up in the Bedford to weld the spring mounts on it, then its pretty well done!

well aside from some paint and new bearings/seals etc.

That axle setup has turned out really well!

Nearly time for a test skid?
