Back in the 90's there was a place on main north rd Adelaide that made plates to order, no idea if they are still around....maybe this http://www.aussieplates.net/vlad01 wrote:I did read the replacement plates have the slogan printed rather than embossed and the fonts aren't identical.
Ideally I would love to get my plate restored but having looked around on the net for ages it seems such a service is non existent in oz.
What I could do is perhaps talk to one of my screen printing/ road sign customers and re-vinyl the plate in the 3m reflective road sign vinyl and have the raised embossing screen printed. Should be doable with the printer screen set at the right height and correct squeegee pressure.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
I scored this really clean carpet from NLA parts in sunshine. Alf the owner he is a real enthusiast and has tons of NOS stuff for all commodores. Got some real nice cars of his own. Heaps of V6s with less than 70k on the clock there too. for 650 you can drive home a 54k VP II, but man its fucked from sitting what seems the desert for all its life.
This one came out of a near mint HSV VP that they couldn't register.
I have been put on the contact list for first dibs of VP parts haha, Also at allcomm the same deal.
Will later wash it to really bring out the goodness. Evidence of something spilt on the backside where the driver's feet are.
Better than my carpet lol. Worn out already, wasn't that great to begin with.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
yeah getting closer now.
tail shaft and diff after the box gets a rebuild, some more suspension stuff and steering rack.
Will book the car in for spring time to the paint shop. To get the bonnet, engine bay, front/rear bumpers, grille repainted and dent under the right tail light done. Then hand cut and polish the rest and will look nearly as good as new. Thinking 2 pack for the paint since the bumpers are factory 2 pack while the rest is acrylic. it will be more durable for those parts of the car hence why they are in need to be done as only those areas have deteriorated while the rest is in very good condition.
Once the drive train is in the custom exhaust will be the last major thing. Then usual interior stuff as well as removal of sound deadener.

Where did you get the counter shaft retainers from I've heard varying things about different brands and people making them saying the move around to much on screws or hit on 5th gear?

Re: Vlad's rides thread
I got them from thegearbox.org.
They are counter sunk 10.9 screws, certainly won't move. The plate is 8mm thick, vs the 2mm or so pressed sheet OEM plates.
