Re: my ride vt ecotec
unless they are solid lifters they shouldn't make noise, if they are then its possible they have too much clearance you might need a longer pushrod..... you can easily check this if you remove a tappet cover and see if you can turn a pushrod when the valve is closed, or even if its loose...
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: my ride vt ecotec
i've run anti-pump up lifters in the 202, for all purposes you treat them like a normal hydraulic lifter, they need pre-load when installing, but then the difference is they are supposed to not pump up too far at high revs and keep the valve open.....
before running them i used to have issues where on a big long 2nd or 3rd gear wind out, it would get to high revs and just before gear change the engine would start missing, then after you change gears a second or two and it would come good...
if however you are referring to solid lifters then yes they are much more clattery, but thats normally in the tappet covers not the bottom of the motor.

hmm ok looks like ive got to look into something then they dont do it whilst driving well that i can hear just at idle you can hear a slight knocking/clacking noise coming from down in the valley area i just figured it may have been the lifters as im not familiar with there operation but im pretty confident the push-rods the right length perhaps its to long and bottoming out the lifters?? defiantly things ill need to look into

hey guys just wondering what sort of timing should i have in the tip in bump spark map should it be the same as the regular map or should it be slightly more or less the car has surging issues at 60 kmph and light throttle the tip in spark was in the neg in some places i made it around the same as the normal map and it seemed to help im just not sure if i should dig deeper with it or not??

Maybe contact Camtech and get the info from them for there lifters. Many anti-pump up lifter run very little Pre-load and can be a bit noisier that regular hydraulic lifters.vt3.8lt wrote:also im not sure on the brand the came from camatech with most of my valve train all i know is there ls style antipump
