So I spoke too soon.Chuff wrote:Thanks everyone,
Original auto PCM with manual memcal now installed and working perfectly.
Too easy.

Original PCM with manual memcal and AUTO engine loom worked fine but the VSS plug from the auto loom doesn't fit in the manual VSS, so no speedo. Removing the auto engine loom & installing the manual loom allows the VSS to be plugged into the manual transmission but now the car will not crank over.
What I have found is that the wire from PCM F5 to the start relay is missing in the manual loom.
Since the other end of the coil in the relay recieves a positve power upon turning the key, I was hoping that PCM F5 would simply supply a negative ground to the other end of the coil in the relay, but supplying a ground value to the body loom where the missing wire should connect to does nothing and the car still won't crank over.
Removing the relay and hard wiring power through the plug cranks the motor over so there's no problem between the relay and the starter motor.
I'm at a loss. How does one get the manual engine loom to work in this conversion?
Thanks.

Anyone?
To summarise the above post:
Original Auto PCM + Manual Memcal + Auto Loom =
Original Auto PCM + Manual Memcal + Manual Loom =
Any help very much appreciated.
Thanks.

On thr VR VS you need to fit a plug that bridges the park neutral connector.

On VR-VS thats in the cabin, On VT thats on the box...
What happens if you just ground F5 at the computer end?, are you sure that loom you have used is for that vehicle? (eg: not series one v's series two). It shouldn't have been starting with the auto loom unless the P/N switch was bypassed or the switch left attached to the loom...

Re: Commodore VT V6 - Auto to Manual Conversion
i'd love to see a manual wiring diagram, there must be something missing ?
looking at the VT V8 diagram i have shows the auto with a neutral switch and the manual with it bridged around it ....

No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Commodore VT V6 - Auto to Manual Conversion
So would I but I have yet to find one anywhere. Just as valuable would be a Pin Out diagram of the PCM but I can't find that anywhere either.Holden202T wrote:i'd love to see a manual wiring diagram, there must be something missing ?
Don't know. I never grounded the F5 pin at the PCM, I simply provided a ground to the other end of the wire in the engine loom which was in the grey connector which connected to the body loom located in the top driver's side of the engine bay. Based on the wiring diagram I assume the F5 PCM pin would be an output supplying a ground to the starter relay coil rather than input.Biggvl wrote:What happens if you just ground F5 at the computer end?
The donor vehicle is a manual VT and the BIN is CJDL1917. According to the Memcal ID Tool it's a Series 1.Biggvl wrote:Are you sure that loom you have used is for that vehicle? (eg: not series one v's series two).
The recipient vehicle is an auto VT and the BIN is CXWB1931. According to the Memcal ID Tool, as well as the badge on the boot, it's a Series 2.
So the conversion involved changing transmission, peddle box, engine loom and Memcal. Everything else (PCM, BCM yada yada...) is original. Nothing else was touched.
Everything ran perfectly with the auto engine loom attached apart from no speedo. P/N mechanism was left attached to the loom and set to the Park position and the car started and drove perfectly without ever moving it out of the Park position.Biggvl wrote:It shouldn't have been starting with the auto loom unless the P/N switch was bypassed or the switch left attached to the loom...
And while writing this I just remembered that the donor car has a fuse under the dash in slot 10, just as detailed in the wiring diagram, but the auto has no fuse, and there is no connector in slot 10 to even accept a fuse. Now I'm wondering if the positive that the start relay expects via fuse 10 is even being delivered to the start relay socket. I haven't checked for this, but it begs the question if there's no fuse, then there's no wire. If so, how the fuck does any of this work?
Also, the wire colours of the engine loom match the colours stipulated in the wiring diagram, but the manual loom does not.
Well that's about everything I know. Hopefully this may prompt a solution from someone. At this stage it could be a Series 1 vs Series 2 issue as indicated by Biggvl.
Thanks.

yeah run a link from f5 to the relay and see if it works ?
