Side impact airbags
Side impact airbags
I've just thrown some vu SS leather front seats in my vx berlina wagon and the new seats don't have the SIAB...
Obviously with the plug disconnected its pulled the srs light and chime.
My question is how do the airbags register a disconnection?
In other words can they be somehow tricked into being there? Ie resistor or earthed etc?
Don't really want pay Holden hundreds to disable them with tech2 (although wouldn't imagine they would anyway)
Anyway to get passed it?

That change makes your car unroadworthy..
But, in answer to your question, the module see's an open circuit and logs a fault.
Get the correct seats is my advise.

Doesn't really worry me too much about roadworthy as here in NZ we are not as strict as Aus.Biggvl wrote:That change makes your car unroadworthy..

Can have bucket seats in there and they wouldn't care come WOF time
So long as the seats are on the standard rails and utilise OE fitment then it's ok
If there not they only require a lvva cert.
If the car came as optional to have siab then it's also ok here. .
Really just want to know how the system works.
I can get my hands on a generic snap on scanner as in sure they have 'number of airbags" option seeing as the exec didn't gave them and the SS was optional and vu didn't.
Is there a way to close the circuit though?

Re: Side impact airbags
The penny just dropped, you are programming the IPC not the SRS module with those cables
Sorry my brain hurts, must be working too hard.

Unfortunately I'm in Auckland. Is there a link to tazzis software? What else can it do? What's the IPC do? Excuse my ignorance.delcowizzid wrote:Where are you located i can turn them off peice of piss if you in the lower north
