L67 upgrade to LS1 MAF

Post by Jayme »

Hi, has anyone here ever used a LS1 MAF on an L67? im looking for some MAF scaler tables that would be close to start with.

Seems to be a few l67 tuners frequent this site http://l67torque.net/index.php maybe they can help.
Be interesting to see what difference it makes i was considering doing the same on mine will you be posting results ?.
I want to run more boost and i have high ratio rollers to go on.
Currently giving the engine a freshen up though file back rings bearings decent headgaskets etc.

try having a look at this topic. you can probably just copy the MAF tables from a ls1 tune

I run just over 10 psi on mine and when i looked into it everyone said it would be fine on the standard tune it was really rich stock apparently and it seemed to be fine.

if I end up running out of room in the MAF then ill try the ls1 maf with the ls1 tables. it might end up being ok on 10psi, just a bit worried coz even stock its getting MAf out of range errors logged at the moment, tho it drives fine with no problems.

I'm doing a bit of work getting an LS1 MAF to run on an L67, will post some details once sorted a bit more.
The biggest problem will not actually be the MAF, but the calculation for millgrams per cylinder (mgc) max's out at 1000 in the factory bins.
As mgc is not related to rpm or time, issues can arise at low to mid level rev's. Based on theoretical calculations I have come up with the following limits for 1000mgc

RPM.....MAF(g/s)
1000.....50
2000....100
3000....150
4000....200
5000....250
6000....300
ie. if you exceed 150g/s at 3000rpm, you will exceed 1000mgc. This is well within the standard MAF's operating window.

I'm not sure how the calculation works after 1000mgc is exceeded. Does it reset to 0 and start again or just stay at 1000? Either way once it is exceeded the engine will start to lean out very quickly.
I've seen one engine with small pulley, rockers and intercooler aprroach numbers of 1250 mgc with a Kalmaker calibration. Kalmaker have redone the code to increase the limit up to 4000mgc is some variants.

ok so the engine in quesiton has now got a 14psi pulley runnin on a totally stock VX L67 and DDRJ. he says its ok but feels a bit odd. im going to take a look at it soon, but from what ive read, its not going to run on anything but kalmaker at 14psi. how about the MAF, does anyone know if ill have to run a bigger one or will the stock MAF + kalmakers increased MGC limit be good enough?

thanks
