Gosh Antus, A Vic-20.

That was my first. Peeking and Poking. Programming, not the felony.

It was only 3 or 4K of memory.... I even scored a 16k ram expansion once... but I think its all gone from storage.
Unless dad still has the box.

Yeah not mine but interesting kit none the less. That certainly is bugger all ram. The owner told me he did have it running on one of the huge screens at work the other day but I must have missed that. The Apple looks like what I know as the IIlc but Ive not spoken to its owner.

I got all enthused and fired this up at home though....

I still have a CRT TV which is required for the guns to work which I keep purely for the dreamcast, but none the less it was good to see it just start up and boot. It's been a while. Whats more interesting is that somehow it knew it was connected to a widescreen tv and supported it despite being an analog SD connection from the turn of the century! Must be some protocol for that aspect ratio as It didnt know what the time or date was and still prompted for that.

heres my work for the evening

doesn't do a great deal, the mfm hard drive spins up and clunks, the FDD are not clicking like they normally do so something is not right. i was using composite video - TV knew something was there just nothing up - removing the cable though you get a grey flash of the workbench screen.
the PSU fan is also deal and not spinning so didn't run it long.
thinking i might unseat all the ROMs and other ICs and seat them again. and fix the PSU fan

That would be the copper in those legs reacting with the air. Takes time, but it happens.

Corrosion.

Here is my modified Atari ST, 4Mb 72pin Simm, a later OS TOS 2.06, IDE HDD, Overclock & Overscan.

Actually, NiMH are 1.2/1.25V per cell (pretty much like NiCd), not 1.5V, so you still need 3 cells like the original.

Unfortunately it's late to tell you, but what I do when replacing these type of NiCd or NiMH batteries is to first fit some snug sleeving on the battery pins, then coat the whole thing in RTV silicone, then remove the sleeving once the silicone is moderately cured. The idea is to fully seal the battery to prevent leakage in future. Particular attention is needed near the pins, to ensure no little gap in the silicone. Seems to work nicely (either that or it's simply that the old batteries may have been wave soldered and the internal seals compromised by excessive heat, whereas the replacement batteries are carefully hand soldered).

Nice Atari Ralcool. Is that ram on the mainboard or on the edge of the exrea pcb on top?

I found this video on youtube and thought I post it here. A bit more vintage than the stuff posted thus far.
