Its formula tech. I rang them as got the same receptionist and I finally got to talk to a guy there who actually sells stuff lol.
So I'm getting hold of their last one in stock.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
I bought one of these to keep the drive train unit off the floor and free up the engine stand.
Idea is I mount the engine and box together and put in on this stand.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/221949432998 ... EBIDX%3AIT
So looking at it, it should be pretty close to a good fit and should only require few bits of flat bar and what not to adapt the v6 and box onto it.
I did start making one a while ago but cbf finishing it and these are so cheap and will save me a heap of time.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
Well few updates.
Got the shifter, was a bit disappointed as a complete package. Fasteners went straight in the bin, horrible 2 dollar shop quality.
The ball was a fraction too big to fit in the brass bush so I had to hand linish it down to get a good fit, perhaps it was designed around the plastic factory bush which are a much looser fit. That was not too much of a problem, but you'd think it would be designed for the common brass bush as thats virtually mandatory for a performance t5
I took the lot apart to make sure there wasn't any other problems. Only thing I found was the spring plates were glued into place in the cover with a ton of some sort of crap black silicon, the dry non elastic type. This is probably just to hold them to the cover when its installed as the spring plates (3 of them) are round with 12 o clock and 6 o clock stamped square edge which stack and lock them together, the corners point up towards the cover which dig into the aluminium of the cover. They won't move.
So I just cleaned everything out and put a small dab of sika flex on the ends of the first spring plate and glued it into the cover. Put the rest in and flipped it over, finished it off and adjusted the stop plates and also changed the boot to one of my known to be quality boots I buy in from the USA as Im not sure of the quality of the one it came with. Certainly not one I have seen before.
End result it came up a treat
and works great too. but in all honestly I wouldn't buy one again just on principal how much I was stuffed around and quality issues for a highly over priced product.
Next one I will get will be a rip shifter and I will just have to engineer a way of adapting an OEM boot.
Also another thing to note when building a T5 is the shaft on the shifter interferes with the top edge of the bush, brass or plastic. I actually looked at a stock shifter after noticing the marks in the bush and they also do this from factory.
I just used the die grinder to nip 4 tinny notches on the top edge and that fixed the issue. Next time though I will take a better approach by machining an additional chamfer in the bush befre installing epoxy gluing it in.
The throw on the T5 is freaking awesome now!
Also I got this today and will make some adapter plates to be able to mount the V6 and measurements show this stand will work out great to be able to put and engine and box together on it.
Oh and one other unrelated update. I went to holden today and my luck they still have L67 thermostat housings and also the cast heater outlet on the front of the engine, both unique to aussie L67 so I grabbed 2 of each haha

Re: Vlad's rides thread
come across these on ebay.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/95-02-Camaro ... Swi0RXxirm
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1983-89-Chev ... SwA4dWKOEP
google images for 3.8L camero.
https://www.google.com.au/search?q=cama ... Dg#imgrc=_
Well this is quite interesting.
And here it confirms a US based RWD v6 with T5, its a bit weird in comparison though. kinda sideways

Re: Vlad's rides thread
why would that make the gearbox sit on an angle like that ? surely it wouldn't be to fit in the tunnel better ....
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!
Just starting out? Have a read of the getting started guide

Re: Vlad's rides thread
thats because yanks are generally lazy and many cars there have the gear stick leaning over into their lap so you don't have to reach for the gear stick.
I saw a 62? fully restored corvette at my clubs show this year and the stick was leaning over to the driver at quite an angle.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
They did it with the V8 T5s too, I always assumed it was to get the shifter over in a wider vehicle without compromising its operation. That small an angle doesn't make any difference to the oil and tunnel clearance isn't an issue with the bigger vehicle.

Re: Vlad's rides thread
Strange you had those issues with the Shifter. My Pro Billet T5 shifter did have the cheap nasty fasteners (which I turfed as well). The ball fit into the brass cup perfectly for me, as well the brass cup did not seem to have any interference issues with the shifter. I didn't notice if the plastic bush did or didn't before changing it out.vlad01 wrote:Got the shifter, was a bit disappointed as a complete package. You have done a great job on the T5 build there too. A real credit to you.
Cheers

Re: Vlad's rides thread
Was your shifter red or black like mine?
As for the ball, all my other stock shifters fit the brass bush nicely and I have used the same ones for all of my T5 so far without issues. So the problem was definitely with their product.
I got GMM to send me these pics of their T5 shifter.
The goal would be to be able to fit an OEM boot to it, should be possible just might need to ditch the stop screws.
