Reverse light switch

Post by Gemlord »

So I've just converted my VR ute with a ecotec running VR ecu and harness. I decided to run the vs gearbox as it had low km's. But after I got everything up and running I figured out that the autos were different as my VR one is to suit colomn shift and has an extended selector shaft to accomidate the selector switch. The vs does not, as the cars run them on the floor shifter.

I'm not worried about the N/p startup as I've already bypassed that with no vats.

Just seeing if anyone has any ideas how to mount a reverse light switch. I want to keep it the factory colomn shift, and don't want to be changing gearboxes.

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Bypassing vats won't do the n/p startup saftey it only disables the anti theft in the pcm waiting for a response from the bcm you still need to preferably mount a switch for it as well or bridge it out in the selector switch plug otherwise it won't start as the starter relay won't have an earth. As for mounting switches is there anything under the dash you could mount a couple of micro switches on I've never played with the colum shift commodores at all the other choice is to get a floor shift selector switch and mount it next to the selector shaft with a linkage to it some how

Surely you can just swap the applicable parts over if you have both transmissions?
