I've done a couple of VQ-VS no real voodoo required. But late model maybe. The cradle anyway trailing arms you want to eye up pretty decent so you can at least drive to the alignment shop.

the holden SMVI talks about some sort of alignment jig to make it right ....
i think careful measure then off to the wheel aligners is in order here :)

This is what you need,
sect-1a2 Body Dimensions.pdf
If you find the right part in the document above you will see the jig, either make one or take careful measurement of the location points before removing the original.

yes immo, that PDF is from the Holden SMVI software - that jig is exactly the one i am talking about. probably a good thing to make based off the existing measurements and then replicate to the new k frame.

so anyway, the VT track car is a series 1. later models as we all know have improvements

like the S2 control arms.
problem is pressing out BJs. for a million years i've wanted a press other than my vice.
and i had all this 50x50 SHS tube and a shit bender with a great bottle jack. yes. we has a plan.

so this happened

Image

then some more welding happened

Image

not bad for an IT nerd.

Image

so this could happen

Image

to do this

Image

so i could paint that shit right

Image

stoked with the result. maiden voyage of the beast and no issues. worked like a bloody champ. have needed a press for years.

now onto the pipe bender.

no big G, but, i am burnt as per my usual failure. living up to my name - sir burnie tanington.

the new BJ are pressed in. fabulous. best thing i've ever built.

pman92....not sure. might be just in the uprights, the S1 have like a clamp on the balljoint, whereas the S2 onwards are an interference with castellated or nyloc nut.

Nicely done, I'm going to take the easy route and just buy a complete unit :) cause I don't have that sort of metal just laying about :(
