There is no upgrades for the getrag, its near impossible to even find new OEM parts for them. There is a shit load more options for the T5 though, but its costly and the V6 makes the best of the best gear sets unusable in them unless you get a custom belbousing cast and a remote shifter, custom tailshaft and trans mount.

So either way a custom everything best of best T5 or a T56 conversion will cost about the same and require same amount of fucking around for the same amount of power capability.

Being a VT who knows what one actually will be easier or cheaper? My statements are based on VN-VS chassis where space and design are very different.

One idea to look at is the Pontiac firebird with V6 and T5, they run a much shorter bellhousing so you could get lucky enough to be able to use the aftermarket options of gearsets like the astro A5.

Yeah this is what i thought might be the case after doing hours of reserch and making phone calls to various companies in hope of finding someone to make gear sets for a getrag ive given up on the box after reading your replys its made me realize what i had first thought it looks like the car is going to get another getrag untill i can save up to get a t56 put into the car :sad2:

Im kinda curious what has broken in it so once i get some time to pull it out im gonna pull it appart and have a geez im guessing its going to be a mess inside there cause it is leaking oil out lf it

Now i also need to get my hands on a new getrag does anyone know where i might be able to find one in qld by any chance?

Could even use a relay off your brake pedal switch too. A mate of mine did in his VK was fit a heavy spring in it's place. No wiring and can't accidently hit reverse still works a treat.

yeah you really want something like a flex table so if theres any km's reading then it locks out reverse just to be safe!

ok cool cheers for the help guys it seems like the flex output is going to be the way to go im runnin the 11p so hopfully it wont be to difficult to set up once im ready ill probably need some help to set it up and if its set to a speed limit what happens if your in reverse will it lock it into reverse at speed or pop it out of gear just curious? also how will the vss run with the 11p does it see the same voltages if not im guessing ill just have to change them or does the t56 run a differant tone wheel etc to the getrag

I'm assuming that the reverse lock out is some form of solenoid ? so you'd set the flex table to lock it out at say anything over 5kph, so regardless of what gear your in it wont let you go to reverse till your slow enough to be below that point..... as for the VSS, no idea sorry :)

hey guys gearbox questions again so ive been trying to get some arp flywheel bolts just to be sure they will be up to the task of holding the flywheel on there but havent been successful in finding any i had one workshop tell me the best way to do it would be to drill out the crank and flywheel to take a comon 7/16th bolt from a chev etc as arp make one for it or do you guys think the 8 5/16th bolts will be up to the task?

on an unrelated note ive started a yooutube channel to make some vids for some aussie love on the vt im new to filming and cant talk for shit but its something im working on i htought you guys might like to have a squiz
