I have a VR HSV with the factory BFPL Marked engine ECU.. now the car had a aftermarket stroker motor in previously but now has a stock VSII 5.0 installed.. problem is that it wont run correctly(Overfuels and idles rough) with the original ecu as its been chipped and possibly had other alterations so i tried the ecu that came with the stock engine but it wont even start with that just cranks.
My question is am i better off using the engine ecu that came with the current engine I have and getting it mated to my vehicle or getting someone to try set my factory chipped/modified ECU hopefully back to standard?

Re: BFPL engine ECU
If both ECU's have a he same service code remove the he memcal from stock ECU and fit to the cars original ECU.

Re: BFPL engine ECU
This is an easy fix as your new engine is a standard VS 5.0L. Both ECU's are the same, only difference is the memcals within the two ECUs. What is the BCC displayed/marked on your VS ECU ? (You said the VR ECU is BFPL). Just get someone to re-program either memcal with the standard BCC that suits your current engine/ECU with VATS off and it should run as standard.

Re: BFPL engine ECU
Refer Kojabs post, I should have read more thoroughly with VR vehicle and VS engine.
If you use the original ECU for the vehicle (not engine) with a BFPL tune you shouldn't have to disable VATS.

that's what i'd do!yoda69 wrote:If you use the original ECU for the vehicle (not engine) with a BFPL tune you shouldn't have to disable VATS.
just make sure if you put a HSV tune on the memcal that you have the knock sensor to go with it, otherwise put a non hsv VR v8 tune on it.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!
